Flash & Flash Accessories / Smoothing in CS4
« on: August 04, 2009, 11:45:52 AM »
Hey ClockCrew,
I am currently starting to get into the new peachy tweening-features of CS4.

But I now got stuck. In the old days I found my ways to work around the crappy keyframing that pre-CS4 versions offered, and I can't seem to abandon some of my old techniques.

What I want to do is a tween that loops forward and back, and gets slower at the highest and lowest point, while accellerating in between.

I prepared a little demonstration for that:

[FLASH]http://files.myfrogbag.com/qyabddjraxt6iuu/smoothing.swf height=300 width=600[/FLASH]

The lower part shows, how I would have done such a thing with a classic tween. I would start with 3 Keyframes, for lowest, highest and back to lowest point (frame 1, 20, 40), and then add 2 additional Keyframes in between them (frame 10, 30). This would give me 4 different tweening-sections wich I would then smooth individually (as the graphic shows) to get the wanted effect.

Now with a CS4 Motion Tween, I can't smooth the different parts on their own and will probably have to use the Motion-Editior. But how does that work?

Gaming & Technology / Blizzard's April Fools
« on: April 01, 2009, 01:53:55 PM »
They are online now.
Something for StarCraft2 (the site won't load properly for me),
a dance battle system for WoW
and a new class for Diablo3, that can turn attacking enemies into quest-giving NPCs and then to talk their ears off.

The WoW thing is kinda lame in comparison to last years bard class, but I like the Archivist.

The StarCraft thing now loaded for me.
I think this would actually be a nice idea. The robot shouldn't be that strong or able to fly though. But as a last defence (kinda like the moving nightelf houses in WarCraft3), it could work pretty well in the game.

Entertainment / Lost Season 5
« on: January 24, 2009, 07:46:05 PM »
I just watched the first 2 episodes and I liked them.
I generally dig stories about time traveling anyway. ;) I hope they will execute this well in the course of the season.
Looks like they got rid of the whole flashback/flashforward thing and replaced it with jumping around the 3 different timelines.
Faraday was kinda annoing though, with his smart-ass attitude. And why did Desmond get the memory 3 years later? He should have got it a few days after he left the island, when Faraday met him at the hatch in his timeline, unless the time for the people on the island progresses extremely fast (like the already indicated it in season4?).

I made this originally for the dearly departed CCTV3-collab, but submitted it now as a stand-alone movie for the marathon.

Gas Chamber / Dr. Horrible
« on: July 16, 2008, 01:37:35 PM »

During the writer's strike earlier this year, Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) and some other guys teamed up to produce this independent 3-part mini comedy series.

The story tells (by incorporateing some musical elements) about the wannabe villain Dr. Horrible, the woman he loves, and his nemesis, the super-hero Captain Hammer.

The first episode was pretty awesome if you ask me, and I can't wait for the next two. :)

Episode 2 and 3 will be added to the site tomorrow and on saturday. After sunday they won't be free to watch anymore, so do it now!

Flash & Flash Accessories / IcedTeaClock's .FLA-collection
« on: July 11, 2008, 03:45:38 PM »
Over the past years I created severel .FLAs of different CC-characters. And recetly I found that all that browsing through my different folders, whenever I needed one of them, became too annoying.

So I put them all into one big and organized collection (also some specials like the .FLAs from my "I draw you as a Ball-Clock!" thread and some Block and Lock characters I created a few years back, when the CC was down for a long time). And I thought, that I could share it with you.

Every avatar of the collection lies as a symbol on the .FLAs stage (so it can be easily found and copied) and is properly named (as well as all its eventual sub-symbols).

(SpinningCube and Binary are animated.)
