Gaming & Technology / Game programming, where to start?
« on: June 23, 2011, 02:12:11 PM »
I'm interested in learning programming, with the aim being to eventually be good enough to start working on small games at home for fun. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books, or particular tutorials to help? I'm fairly new to the whole thing, but what is the most relevant coding today? Is C++ good to begin with?
anyway yeah, hi.

I've been playing Super Meat Boy, and been going "I could do this" (art/animation/design wise). If any competent coders wanna do something neat, I'd like to work on design/music/animation for a game in my spare time, nothing too serious. It'll be fun probably! Posting this in general because it doesn't particularly fit into any particular sub-forums (particularly).

Reception Desk / hi i'm aidan

Hi, I'm Aidan. I used to make flash animations, but now alot of my time is dedicated to making music and running a small DIY record label [ ]. I'm about to start my first year of art college. Stay tuned for tales of my inevitable homoerotic adventures via said art college, and of course the reaction images of my girlfriends face as I reveal that I sucked a man's testicles while a man gave me a blow job (at least that's what I imagine art college is like). I came back to because it's 3:27 am and none of my friends are on msn messenger and I'm lonely. this is a photo of me; my hair has magical powers.

I agree to an extent. I wasn't here for the original, but I do believe I understand what you mean, and I dislike the current state of the clock crew.

General Discussion / Phlash Phandango #4 : Escape
« on: June 23, 2008, 09:39:00 PM »
Task: Make a flash which is based around/involving escape! This topic can be interpreted any way you like, but must involve escape in some form or another (symbolic or otherwise).

How to enter:
Host your completed flash on NG or elsewhere. Post your flash (no AP) in this thread.

How to win: The winner will be decided by the results of a poll (as voted for by official clocks and clockfriends - no clockfans, to avoid alt accounts being used to rig voting. However, clockfans can still enter and win).

Most important: No submitting prior work! Your entry should be work you have created since reading this thread.

The work must be entirely your own. You can collaborate with others but then you must decide between you who gets the prize.

The deadline for this is one week from now (Tuesday 1st).

The Winnah: The winner has the honour of choosing the next Phlash Phandango theme, and will also win a free copy of this awesome clock crew poster, designed by RenegadeClock. You can of course choose to gift this to another clock if you are feeling generous or already own a copy (possible for future contests).

The winning flash will also be shown on the homepage
