Don't look at my stats they're horrible
almost all of that was a 32 man server on Goldrush with instant respawn and poopsockers with like 65 thousand points.

I'm not really keen on playing with anybody I know right now I'm still getting used to the PC version.

Welp.
I can run Half-life 2 at lowest settings with only a little slowdown in parallels, but if I want to run TF2 at full speed, I'm proooobably going to have to partition the hard drive and install Bootcamp so I can run at native speed.

I've tried to put Bootcamp on this computer before, and XP worked fine, but the drivers refused to install. The whole system kept crashing.
Might have been a problem with the Leopard installation disk... I'll look into it.

edit: I'm in bootcamp right now and TF2 is installing. :)

Necrapolis / Dreams: Do they predict the future?
September 19, 2008, 10:43:45 PM
I have a friend who occasionally thinks he dreams our conversations before they happen, but he never successfully -predicts- something. It's always after the fact- "Oh, man, I had a dream that you'd say that."

So, to skeptical me, I'm thinking his brain is fucking up and he's storing new information as remnants of things stored on his visuospatial sketchpad, and he's interpreting these missteps as his "dreams" "predicting" "the future," when it's actually a trick of the mind reflecting the immediate past.

So I says to him I says, "Keep a dream journal. Write down everything, and pay special attention to the mundane things that might actually happen. If you can produce a piece of paper that has something I said written on it, in, say, a sealed envelope, immediately after I said it, I will admit that you're psychic."

He has not claimed to have "dreamed" a conversation since that discussion.
Not much surprise to me, because I can't remember a single word I've ever spoken in a dream, much less an entire conversation, much much less one that was later repeated.

BUT.
I'm pretty sure he was psychic one time in Highschool.
He wanted to go do something, and I said I had to do an assignment, he said that we'd done it together the day before. Only, we hadn't seen each other the day before, and I was the only one of us with the textbook. But he knew the answers.
I can't remember all the details, but basically it came down to the only way he could possibly know the answers was if he had access to the textbook, and was lying to me. And I've known this guy for years. I can read him like a book, and as far as I can tell he was genuinely surprised that I didn't remember our meeting where we'd previously done the assignment, and, what's more, that it couldn't possibly have happened. It also turned out he had the unfinished assignment paper in his backpack, meaning that not only could it not have happened, but also that it didn't.
This is only pertinent because he decided the non-occurrence where we did the assignment together must have been one of his psychic dreams.

This was about 4 years ago, and I still have no explanation.

Necrapolis / The US Bailout
September 19, 2008, 10:24:25 PM
Quote from: SnakeClock;1406815So with the possibility of a depression looming across the American economy, the US government have decided to give Wall Street a trillion dollars to boost the market, following the classic American idiom "Throw money at it, it will be good."

So yep, socialism has fixed the American economy, but it's been given to companies that are already pretty rich to get richer, rather than having a trillion dollars of taxpayer's money being used for something useful. What's your take on it?
As far as I can tell, it was a necessary move at this point, but it shouldn't have gotten to this point.

From my understanding, the problem is mainly that over the past decade or so, American wages and government taxing didn't rise, but consumerism and government spending increased dramatically. This increased debts and American dependence on foreign capital, creating a ripple effect- people were spending money that didn't exist, and when it came time for that money to surface, naturally, it didn't. This problem has been going on for years, but until very recently, it hasn't affected anybody that "matters-" the multibillion dollar corporations that the economy actually relies on to remain afloat. Now it has, and it's clutch time. Somebody had to do something or we'd be looking at nineteen-twenty-fucking-nine.

If the government had intervened when it was just people losing their homes, or even some of the smaller big businesses getting hit, the tab wouldn't have come to a trillion fucking dollars- we waited too long, the ripple got bigger, and now the folks we're bailing out deal in such massive amount of cash that the cost of bailing them out is more money than any of us will ever see in our lives.

1,000,000,000,000
That's what a trillion looks like. 12 zeroes. You can't even put that in a fucking calculator.

Snipers are the biggest douchebags on the planet I'll say that right now.
Scout supremacy.

I downloaded Steam and I'm downloading the Portal demo.
I do this because
1) I want to know if I can run a modern FPS through Parallels, because the highest stress levels I've given it so far were marathon sessions of I Want to Be the Guy, which isn't exactly graphic intensive.
2) I need to check up on the intuitiveness of Keyboard+Mouse. I haven't played a PC FPS since Rise of the Triad, so I'm used to dual analog sticks.

If things go well I'll consider making the purchase.
#14992
I wouldn't have bought it for 360 if I had a PC.

I guess I'll find out if I can run it through Parallels
but really I have better things to do with 20 dollars than buy a game I already have.

I'm not exactly offended. This layout was an accident to begin with.

The entire thing only came about because I was learning by doing. I'm just making it functional as a favor to people like Cadillac who were demanding that I leave it up.

When I get around to actually designing and piecing together a usable layout, I'll say as much.
