I happen to be a softmod enthusiast, meaning I am keeping up with the news on $ony and what they are doing concerning the who custom firmware thing. Now don't get me wrong, I DO NOT CONDONE PIRACY, I have failed to use a backup manager since the release of the softmod. I am however incredibly interested in homebrew communities (Xbox, Psx, ps2, ps3, psp. I would probably look into it on the 360 but i have never owned one) and I hate to see that they are running homebrew dev's off. The availablility of piracy doesn't exactly mean piracy. Look at all the people that use nothing but LEGIT software on there computer, yet have the ability to get it all for free.
With that being said, the fact that they are sueing GEOHOT and were granted permission to take the ip logs of everyone that visited his site and viewed the exploit video is fucking I'm a edgy teen. The judge should be kicked in the junk for doing that. One can only hope that the same outcome comes as what did with apple. It should be legal to modifiy the firmware of ANY system you buy. If I sell you a car, I am not going to tell you that you cant modifiy it, put in a new stereo system and seats and shit. That would be wrong.
Long story short, $ony is suing people for trying to enable homebrew on a console, and is trying to tell us we can't use homebrew on something we BOUGHT.
