It should still be called Dominion Day. That's a way better name.

You may or may not have seen this already. It's like one of those old, terrible Sega MegaCD games from the '90s.

You'll have to keep your wits about you, in order to excuse yourself from the terrible crime of being caught in a hooded sweatshirt.

Avant-gardism and normality come together in this 3 minute short film to create a fantastic display of pseudo-surrealism and abstract expressionism, in which the dialogue and voices are actually provided by individuals being interviewed in regards to their first encounters with love.

More brilliant works like this can be found on the FutureShorts YouTube Channel!

I remember watching this on television occasionally, several years ago. I figured it would be relevant!

This is obviously how they should have done the movie.

Chelovek-Titan's inexplicable absence in the movie was rather displeasing.

Verwitterte Melodie (Weather-beaten Melody) is an animated short film by Hans Fischerkoesen, produced in Germany, 1943. The techniques used to create this film are, from a technical perspective, acknowledged as being generations ahead of anything else available at the time - which is made evident by the astounding use of colour, layering, sound and, of course, the animator's overall grasp on the mechanics of animation.

Prospective animators and fans of traditional animation alike should look to this as not only a source of inspiration, but a lesser-known masterpiece.

Paintballing is a rather inspirational minimalist short film directed by Grant Orchard for Future Shorts. With brilliant use of sound, pacing, humour and visuals, the film sticks to the minimalist formula, but also defines a style of its own, proving to be an excellent model for simplicity-loving animators to follow.

For more excellent short films, both animated and live action, check out the Future Shorts YouTube channel or website, where all kinds of information regarding their artistic projects and live screenings can be found!

Entertainment / "Noise/Glitch" Music
March 11, 2008, 10:20:27 PM
Is horrid, but that's just my opinion. If anyone here likes this kind of "music", I'd love to know how the devil you enjoy it, seeing as it's generally devoid of any actual notes, chords or sense.

Recently, I was in the vicinity of the creator of one of these pieces, who was looking for critique. Please listen to a second of it. After hearing just a bit of it, I assumed it was a joke and congratulated him on his excellent skill in making horrid noises and breathing into his microphone. But, sure enough, some one else comments on the piece, saying the following:
QuotePersonally, I think it's fucking awesome. You people just calling it "horrid noises" aren't really familiar with the genres of music such as the so-called "IDM" that present such tracks as these, with many distorted sounds and synths coming together to create a very dark atmosphere.

Maybe I'm just an ignorant, stodgy, jaded prick, but if I have to be told that something is actually music in order to enjoy it, then it's not music. He wasn't the only one, either.

I try to enjoy everything, but this is wretched. Please, if you enjoy this, explain how and why.

Oh, gosh, I wonder where they got the idea for this.

To be fair, it's probably pretty fun and it's free, so I'll probably be trying it out.
