that nesquik commercial had a nice curve : )

nestle steals fresh water from communities with failing infrastructure like flint, michigan, bottles it causing tremendously wasteful plastic pollution, and sells it back to those communities who have no other option at a 5000% markup : (

my art practice assumes the audience knows that Nestle is a big pile of shit company from which only the most careful and conscientious among us will succeed in not buying stuff

did the smurfs and peyo's estate ever attempt to sue keebler

i know they are legally distinct in their designs and their driving ambitions and their products and their antagonists. i know one is pre-industrial and the other industrial and you can't copyright the idea of a miniature hierarchical society living in plants in a magical fairy tale forest under the leadership of some elder mayor chief.

still feels like carbon copy the way cereal commercials are a single looney tunes gag with a quickly muttered caution to also eat some fruit

demolition man (1993) postulated that the only art the future will preserve would be commercial. radio stations wall-to-wall classic jingles, long past the death of those corporations that commissioned, possibly even commemorating them.

demolition man (1993) also postulated that in a caste-divided society with cavernous wealth inequality that forces the underclass to literally live underground, that police would instead become less brutal, politically correct, undisciplined, and ill-equipped to put down a guerilla insurgency with the means to strike anywhere and disappear back into a dank yet expansive system of slums.

I remember when shmorky (r.i.p.) spearheaded a "draw the simpsons wrong on purpose" thing on something awful way back in 2006 I thought it was kind of played out, a hacky attempt to co-opt an existing phenomenon, because people had already been doing that for years at that point
now it's current year, and I've rolled my eyes through a decade of lame, banky spengebab and shrek memes, which I've always thought were just unfunny, uncreative morons retreading the same joke over and over again, because, that's what they were
so you'd think I'd be the first to call bullshit on the proliferation of simpsons shitposts- steamed hams, simpsons wave, whatever- but I've been firmly in the "this owns actually" camp and this video is a pretty good distillation of why

in brief, the zombie-like state of the show itself provides a negative point of reference where a beloved, era-defining t.v. show has become trapped in a lifeless, uninspired stasis, and the ever-churning, mutating sea of fan reinterpretations allows it to be re-imbued with the kind of cultural meaning we feel it deserves

if that sounds like something you'd like to see talked about for half an hour, check it outtt

Shmorky is a name I haven't read in forever. Didn't he go a little nutso? Like there was this recording of him where he's talking in this weird voice and his girlfriend is belittling him or something (I don't remember the specifics) and I'm like yeah it's Something Awful maybe it's a joke, but I don't think it was. More like mental illness caught on tape.

Like when you're whacking off and you stumble across some self-shot amateur porn type stuff and you watch it for a bit and it's a little off and you're like o boy this person is genuinely mentally ill and you just have to zip up and take a shower. Why you would zip up before taking a shower beats me, take a clothed shower for dramatic purposes I guess. But it's a real thing, that makes you wonder who these people are, what their lives are like, like do they even allow cameras in the asylum? I'm only joshing. He he h hheheeh, no but it's quite depressing stuff really.

the downfall of shmorky was a real fuckin trip. I had completely forgotten about shmorky until everything started falling apart. like a trainwreck that went on forever. also the train is made of diapers and is abusing it's live-in financially-dependent mentally ill suicidal girlfriend while wearing an actual god damn raggedy ann yarn wig. also grooming random teenagers into weird scat roleplay on skype. it's the sort of thing you can't look away from once you start looking into it, like watching a documentary about a serial killer or that guy with the family of realdolls. the anecdotes from his girlfriend about dating shmorky are fuckin surreal, but all consistent with each other and with other people's stories, and pretty much everything I've seen in abusive relationships. except the scat stuff that was new, like locking all the bathrooms up to try and force the girlfriend to piss herself.

funfact: shmorky, unless drunk, is only willing to have sex in the following situations: 1: through a sheet 2: somehow involving shit/piss and diapers, and will tearfully refuse if not given either of those options. no joke.

this information is now taking up space in your brain you'll never get back

it was. he pushed her into a mental breakdown and recorded it to get some sympathy points on the internet. didn't work out so well.
