Mrs. McGruder's House / If you just returned, look here

On occasion, I lurk the forums to see what's up. I post 4-5 messages then go back to work.

Quote from: RobClock;1933371You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

I'm starting to fear this is true.

In regard to Robââ,¬â,,¢s post and Patriotââ,¬â,,¢s response, I agree that that video was completely inappropriate to post but I understand the sentiment behind it. Patriot, you are correct in saying gun violence isnââ,¬â,,¢t just an American thing, but if anyone had told me today that 20 kids were shot dead in an elementary school and asked me where it had happened, I couldââ,¬â,,¢ve told you it was the U.S. This is because this sort of thing happens awfully disproportionately more often in America than anywhere else.

To counter Albinoââ,¬â,,¢s points:
  • ââ,¬Â¦anyone can make a bomb. Bombs, of course, tend to kill many more people than guns.
Itââ,¬â,,¢s quite difficult to build a bomb that will kill anyone but the people standing directly besides it. Also, bombs donââ,¬â,,¢t kill as many people as guns do on a yearly basis. Itââ,¬â,,¢s quite telling you came up with an example from three quarters of a century ago when there have been several fatal mass shootings in recent years.
  • Do you really think any politician in this country can try to repeal the second amendment and survive? They'd have to be damn idealistic to try itââ,¬Â¦
True, and a great example of the shameful state your democracy is in, when politicians cower before an industry which would rather see kids dead than lose money. Go capitalism.
  • (Paraphrased) gun kill less people than suicides, car crashes and smoking.
Great argument for suicide prevention, crumple zones and educating people about the harms of smoking. Doesnââ,¬â,,¢t make guns any less lethal, and shooting deaths any less pointless.
  • It might well be that a few cities might just erupt into warzones.
Come on now. That canââ,¬â,,¢t possibly be anything other than something you pulled out of your ass. Is this genuine cause for concern? Who says this?

Slurpee is right: how many people have to die so you can shoot  a gun? You can shoot guns over here too, in gun ranges. Why do you need them in your home, your place of work, on the street and in your school? And donââ,¬â,,¢t say ââ,¬Å"to defend myself from bad guys with gunsââ,¬Â because in countries with sensible gun control laws, youââ,¬â,,¢d be surprised at how often youââ,¬â,,¢re robbed at gunpoint (so far, never).

Finally, United States gun laws have sensible roots, from a time where you had to defend your home because the law couldnââ,¬â,,¢t always be there. From a time where, after each shot, you had to reload your rifle which only had an effective range of 20-30 feet. It wasnââ,¬â,,¢t written in this time where the police is practically in your living room all the time. It wasnââ,¬â,,¢t written in this time where, in a matter of seconds, you can fire dozens of bullets hundreds of feet with horrible precision. Itââ,¬â,,¢s time for Americans to stop asking ââ,¬Å"do guns make us safer?ââ,¬Â and go with the answer the rest of the civilized world has come up with: a resounding ââ,¬Å"of course notââ,¬Â.

Comedy Goldmine / Heineken is a giant menstruating vagina

Quote from: ProqagandaClock;1892608What a dick.

That was six years ago when I was fourteen years old. I think I thought I was just trolling at the time and horribly misjudged how wrong a turn it would take, but eh, don't really remember why I guess. Absinthe had a great idea a while back to make up for it (a whole event where I donated money to cancer research) but right now I'm too fucking poor to do anything charitable which is why I haven't been posting actively; I wanted to do that before getting back involved in the Clock Crew.

The thing with Grey's flash movie has been bothering me for a while which is why I emailed Tom to see what he could do about it. I just worry about stuff like this, especially with all those stories about people not getting hired / getting fired over shit they've said and done years before (AKA exactly what I did). It's a legitimate concern, right? Sorry I went around your backs.

Look, it's pretty obvious this was the last drop so bye, Clock Crew. Please let's not turn this into a thing.

At this time, no. I think Absinthe merged my previous accounts together with the exception of this one:

Which is permabanned.

I'm sorry about how shitty a member I've been, both now and in the past. I guess I'm kind of a dick.

I guess there was no point in asking in the first place.
I knew asking you would be a more decent thing to do, but I knew you'd never listen to me, so I asked Tom what he would do if I asked him to remove it and he just asked which movie it was. After I linked him there he never replied again.

Lose/lose situation I suppose.

Edit - for the sake of transparency

Whose idea was it to upgrade to a new version of vBulletin anyway? I wasn't here when that happened so I missed out on the reasons for doing so but it feels like every function the site ever had broke at that time without adding anything whatsoever.
