is this actionscript 3.0 or actionscript 2.0? Check your publish settings.

In AS3, you can center align a movieclip with this:

MyMC.x = stage.stageWidth / 2;
MyMC.y = stage.stageHeight / 2;


assuming MyMC is the instance name given to your movieclip


what errors are you getting?

I'm tempted to try this on a fresh install of windows in vmware and see how long I can play until windows locks up

in AS2 you were close, it's:

this.movieclip[currentvalue].play();


that's if you have a movieclip named "movieclip" on your root (which is bad form). If the movieclip's name is currentvalue and it's just on the root, its like this:

this[currentvalue].play();


and in AS3 its:

this.getChildByName(currentvalue).play();
