Hey guys, last time I was back I think I was talking about how I'm done with animation and everything. Well since then I've started doing some live visual work around the east coast. Here are some links since I can't really embed them.

https://vimeo.com/75284790
old work in progress of a music video I had started

https://vine.co/v/h3Ft6bXUTI5
https://vine.co/v/h3FxgTVOvO6
footage from a show I did back in January with Grimecraft, DJ Cutman, and Megaran

https://vine.co/v/hYv9H6JFEO0
from the show I did at Magfest

Seems kind of stupid, but all of the images are created with a small flashlight, a monitor, and a really old VHS camera.

Some of you already know that I write a lot of music on/for the original Nintendo Gameboy. Well now I finally released my first album containing nothing but songs written on the hardware. If you download it, you get all of the source files so you can play it back on your own Gameboy or emulator. It was also recorded and mastered by DJ Cutman. I hope you guys enjoy it. I've worked really hard on this.

Hey guys, long time no see. Thought I'd share something with just you guys and only you since you were my first animation family. Here's my senior thesis I completed a few months ago. It won't be up here for long, so watch it while you can. I'm currently waiting to get word back from the Ottawa Animation Film Festival (as well as a few others) on whether or not it's been accepted for this year's screening. You should really watch this with headphones or really good speakers. There are a lot of frequencies that are very low and very high that won't get picked up on bad computer speakers.

There was no video used in the film. All of the movement you see was animated (painfully) by me. All of the sound design was done by myself as well. They were all recorded around the city and other places including my old apartment. The X-rays were actual film x-rays that were shot underneath of the ice image. So there was no layering trickery or any of that going on. I wanted to keep 90% of the film's movement all within camera and without the assistance of extra programs. Overall time spent on this was about 3-4 months of full on animation and editing.

This is also the very first cut of the film, and not the one that I currently have as the "finished" product.

It's been a while. How have you all been doing? I'm not officially back or anything, but i am for a little bit it (I'm running off of my phone since I still don't have an Internet connection here). What have I missed? Also I think I'm officially done with animation and I'm just sticking to music.

Hey Clock Crew, long time no see. How've y'all been? I've been doing a bunch of music lately and I just happened to finish this track up tonight. Thought it would be nice to share it with you kids. http://soundcloud.com/chrisdepew/galaga-rainbow

If you haven't heard Gravy Rainbow, I suggest going to that YubTub and listen to it!

Miss you kids <3

Hello everyone, some of you may have noticed that I haven't been very active lately and that's been due to multiple reasons. School work has been an obvious time consumer as well as client work I've been doing. Recently, my brother and I were approached and asked to develop an 11 - 15 minute pilot for Comedy Central. Obviously we jumped at the opportunity and have just started the whole pre-production phase this week. We only have until the beginning of January to get it finished and it's just the two of us working (although we might be adding Matthew Seely onto the team as well). That's really not a lot of time. So between school, work, schoolwork, and this project, I barely have any time for the Clock Crew. I think it's only fair for me to step down from my position and let someone else take over for me.

I truly appreciate everything that you guys have done for me and this community. I've said this a myriad of times, but i will say it again, without the Clock Crew, I would have nothing. This opportunity probably would have never shown up for me. I really owe you all a lot. So thanks for 6 wonderful years. I'm going to try to come back and check up on things here every now and then, but i can't make any solid promises. Anyhow, I hope you all make the Clock Crew even better over the next couple of months.

Love,

Oh no there's a meteor headed right for Clocktopia and there's no stopping it! *Booooooooooom* After the impact, we all realize we've been given special abilities.

Since I tend to be pretty good at making things from scratch that almost look/sound exactly the same as the original work, I have the power to mimic other people's powers or other people in general. (edit: Like Mystique or Peter Petrelli from Heroes.)

What about the rest of you lot?

Here's some of my pieces I worked on mostly last year. Almost all of them are incomplete due to the fact that I hated that entire semester/was going through a lot of crap and wasn't motivated blah blah blah. I'm going to go back and fix/complete some of them but for now, I'll show you what I had done that whole year.

Total Square:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/f45a2aa3ac3ccb6ae7ef498664fe916e

This one was supposed to be my Intro to animation I final first semester. We had maybe like 2 weeks to get something done and color it all and add sound. There's a lot of sound missing here as well as movement. You'll notice that pretty much everything after the extreme close-up with the keytar is just animatic stuff. Might go back and finish this, although I thought up of the idea in literally 30 seconds when my teacher asked what we were all doing for our finals (I had no idea so I just bs'd something and got stuck with it). I also did the music for this as well as some other test tracks but that doesn't matter. MOVING ON.

No Eyes:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/1afe911ad423c15e95f3408db3daa5bf

For this assignment, all we had to do was create a proper lip sync to any audio piece we selected as well as use someone else's character (designed for that class) in your movie. The apple design is obviously mine, the thing that shoves the fork into the toaster was designed by a girl in my class, and the other guy (as seen in the MBMBAM short we made) was designed by my brother. This one is finished, but I have no plans on submitting it to NG or anything. I just don't like it.

Portfolio 2010:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/f9efaec82cc11ce6859c013228ccbde2

A portfolio thing we had to make. I did this in a day and didn't put much effort into it. Some of the buttons don't work because I never linked them to anything. It's unfinished and I don't plan on continuing it. But all of the animation and preview picture buttons work.

Puddin' Pop:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/f16fee910163e4d1b63f25d01b230db2

Yet another assignment we had to do. Make intro titles to a show of our own creation in After Effects (except I totally didn't use AE). So this was the show Puddin' Pop that I was going to "make". Bill Cosby is Michael Cera's dad and their robot dog neighbor is Vin Diesel.

Untitled Music Sync:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/8b96b373ee34d3aa25a8b171ab14479d

For this we had to make a song and animate to it. So I did just that. As of right now, it's incomplete. I'm going to go back and finish this one though for sure.

Waltz:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/a2a59d1354be1068e5e1d219691c7a12

More music sync projects we had to do. This one is also far from done, but I plan on going in and finishing it some time this year. If you couldn't tell, I like to focus on shapes and abstract crap.

Molto Vivace:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/6d5c93ed85e2582390d57f21e80f27bc

This was my final for Intro to Animation II. I did it in 6 hours because the stupid mac computers that I was working on at the school decided to crash and remove everything completely from the desktop (before I was even able to save a copy to my external hard drive). So I had to start over. Multiple times. I still managed to get an A on this though, I honestly don't know how, but I plan on fixing this one as well because it is really far from where I'd like it to be.

Rotoscoped Birds:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/3d84fc8d43a7516be7ba2554e7ead088

A rotoscope assignment we had to do. There are like a million pieces from this puzzle missing. So I will just go out and tell you it's obviously not done. There are at least three other "dances" I have to put in there as well as finishing up that main one. Then add music and blah blah blah.

So yeah, that's what I did all last year...

Oh you know, this guy

I recently got a hold of his music and it's hilariously good. We have to do an animatic for class about us and our morning routine going to class or to work. Since I suck at drawing and can really only draw sea critters or swimmy things, I'm doing me as a sperm going to school blah blah blah. But I'm using this as the background music:

or

Anyway, I recommend you listen to some of his other stuff. I only have two CDs of his and I think I'm going to buy The Amazing New Electronic Pop Sounds of Jean-Jacques very soon.

Entertainment / Documentary Film Recommendation List
September 09, 2011, 10:41:10 PM
Being the huge documentary film nerd that I am, I feel like I need to watch as many as I can (that I'm interested in). So I'd like to compose a list of sorts of films you guys would suggest watching as well as some of my favorites. I'll start things off.

If they're available on Netflix, that would be wonderful. I'm about to throw on "The Cove" right now.

This new plugin should be out sometime this month for about $150 is what they've been saying. I mean this is absolutely amazing.
