Dear ClockCrew members,

I want to thank you all for everything. I also want to give something back to the crew. I thought about what could I do this year that would not just effect one but effect a couple, even ten? I thought about donating to the site, but then realized that isn't going to do much anyways. We will always have a host, even if this host goes down... a host will pop up. I thought about the ClockCrew radio and thinking about picking up a liscense to allow some people to stream some music on a dedi for the site, but then thought about the money ratio for the liscense and the popularity. It would have been a bad investment. Finally I thought a little harder and looked to something I do as well so I could enjoy it aswell.

I have decided that I am going to purchase a subscription for a Minecraft server for the ClockCrew. It was a hard thing to see the original Minecraft server go down, especially on how awesome people started playing on it and building content. Because it will be a new server, a new oppurtunity it will also be a new world. I will not be having the old world reloaded in here, this is a personal decision to try and help give a level ground for all.

Currently I have arranged for the hosting up until May 2012. I will continue to pay for the hosting until it is deemed that no one is playing anymore. As long as people continue to play I will continue to keep the server up and running.

I am going to start a donations que for keeping the server up, and or expanding the server. This is not going to be a profit scheme donation system. It will be purely towards the cost of maintaining the server, as soon as half the server is paid I will stop the donations. There will be a donations system to see where the current set of donations are at to keep it going. I will match / pay the difference of the donations. Currently the box is 500$ for a 6 month period. Mind you this is fast internet + bandwith + Ram + a nice core. I will only accept donations up to a 250$ threshhold starting in Mid-January. After that point it will be terminated until the bill comes in May to pay for it. I will pay the remained if we hit that threshhold or not.

You will not get perks for donating. The donation is simply that, a donation. There is no requirement to donate, but some people like to help out with costs to keep going. I am not requiring donations. I am not asking for donations. It is simple there to allow people who want to donate to donate to keep it alive. When the time comes for donation oppurtunities I will ensure to update this thread. I will also be giving access to the donation system to keep track to the public, you will be able to view who donates if the user elects.

1. No Griefing other players houses/areas. There will not be a protection system in place due to Whitelisting. You will be banned.

2. Chests will be the only items protected. However, do not create chests griefing other players, IE doorways etc.

4. Do not Endeman Bug your diamonds. If you have no idea what I am talking about, were good.

6. TNT is gainable, if you know how to make it. Using it on another players house will result in a suspension/ban.

7. If you invite a guest and they grief you are responsible for the actions of that player

8. No flooding.

9. The spawn point will be a town for the Clockcrew welcome center for anyone who joins. DO NOT BUILD YOUR HOUSE in a 500x500 blook radius at minimum, paths / tunnels / rail ways are fine. However don't clutter the spawn point.

I am looking for someone that is experianced with managing a server. This means everything from starting it up from scratching, installing mods, changing the .jar, upgrading etc. The server is not ran by a custom host, it is a managed server we run which will be on a Dedi.

Right now the guys at Media Temple are building the blade for us.

alright cran, just a heads up, i wont be around from like 5am saturday (Eastern) till 1:00pm saturday (Eastern)...moving back to school.  but as soon as i get there, or if you get the info to me tonight, i'll do what needs doing.

Its ok. I can set it up initially. I am also using MCAdmin, I just got the liscense for it. However I will just be needing someone that will be able to update it if I am not around, or is online when a new patch drops etc. The new MCAdmin has an autoupdate, but I need to make sure that someone is around to restart etc.. you know :-). Plus the new Bukkit is a bastard to setup.

MCAdmin or mcmyadmin?  i have a pro license for mcmyadmin, not really experienced with mcadmin...but i know the back end of minecraft so thats whats important i think.

If those two are made ops then I should be made an op to keep an eye on them. Then all the other users should be made ops to keep an eye on me. And we should all be given infinite health and flying and blocks and laser beams

Speaking of which, is flightmod enabled on this server? Flying is hella useful and faster than railcars.

Just a side note.. You MIGHT have issues for the first 24 hours of it being online. You might be able to connect, or you might lose connection as the IP is still propegating. It may take a moment before the system settles.

the current bukkit build is a tad buggy and it was messing alot of things up. so right now there is no whitelist on the server because it broke the whitelist manager.

is the machines actual IP but I think there may be some collision going on. The server is registering people trying to connect but the machine is refusing any connections. As soon as I get word back from her I will post.

There is no whitelist on the server right now. The whitelist if off because of bukkit being broken. The whitelist.txt is empty and the server variable is set to = 0;

I think the server crashed, I got disconnected and now I can't connect.

Are you going to remove hostile mobs? Because they're super annoying and I would be hesitant to build something if I knew a Creeper might pop out and an inopportune time and blow it all up. Also could you enable flying on the server? It kicks me whenever I fly to a certain hight, but it's really useful for getting around. I was wondering as well if you were going to be adding in kits in the future, but I think thats tied to the Bukkit mod, so whenever thats all sorted out is fine. Apologies if this stuff is something Robin or DMC has to sort out first, it is really fun playing with my clock buddies on MC again.

AS soon as cran gets back to me with the ftp info ill be diving in headfirst to try to solve the issues.

The explosion thing that ran to my house was a server stress test. 2000 blocks of tnt at once.. the server didnt even raise a pulse... this thing is rock solid

arrows can be made using the other ingredients, and glowstone can be obtained easily in the nether.

my current aim is to make the island more city like. I've done some paths and and working on a train station. My thoughts are that in a city some parts are bit close together, but in this case hopefully the things will look cool so it will be nice

I had to destroy and rebuild part of a small underground passageway of someones. This is because there's an annoying bug relating to the curved bits of track, and I had to make loads of irritating long detours. So sorry about that, once the big gets fixed i'll fix the passageway

Also I used the bit of track already built near spawn. It seems silly to build another track, and nobody's touched it in ages.

something appears to be wrong with the Virtual machine the server is running on, its having trouble getting the amount of space it needs and is unable to start.  I'm working on it.

appears this is an issue beyond my control.  i have submitted a support ticket to the host to help resolve the issue.  i will keep everyone informed.   expect the server to likely go up and then back down a few times before all is well again.

I just returned home. I heard there was an issue with the server as one of the techs called me asking about it.

It appears the issue is with the Voxel tool that is clashing with Multicraft. DMC is working on it I hope hes able to get everything going well. I should be back in the next 2 weeks or so.

ok so bukkit FINALLY released a recommended build for minecraft 1.0...i'm going to update to that and see what happens.

my lvl 2 maze that nobody played was like this you needed to open 3 doors through 3 coloured levers (levers ontop of coloured wool) would open those doors. the maze was auto-resetted so I wouldnt have to be around to reset it all the time.

then the next stop of that maze was see if you rememember what coloured lever opened which door. so it was 3 doors the first door was opened by a blue one the second by a yellow one and the third on by a grey one I think.
so then I had 7 coloured wool on the ground with doors behind them that were openable one way. so if you went through blue yellow grey you'd get to the end but every other doors would be certain death.
ofcourse it was not obvious which was the right one and I had a coulpe of fake doors that let you believe you were going the right way but still kill you in the end.

it took way too long to make though. and its prob deleted by now

First clam is being a baby because i turned off his god mode, second what exactly am i doing that's so terrible basically all i do is keep the server updated and manage the whitelist.  all the items from mobs are available through kits.  literally the only restriction i have put on this server is no tnt.  If you have some actual reasoning why i'm a bad admin other than my taking your god mode and not making YOU admin, i'd like to hear it.

Also in important news i've put in some plugins such as a permissions system and a chest protection system.  permissions will help manage things, but also could potentially cause some problems. So what i'm saying is if you try to use a command and it doesnt work please let me know.

I'm also accepting suggestions for a new spawn location for the new map

These pictures are me floating in mid air turning 90 degrees each time. Behind those hills there is a vast desert. In the final pic you can see the start of a large tree-less plain in the distance.

I think this place would be suitable for everybody. I'd us to start building there before the spawn is placed though, so we dont have spawn protection on.

I've been experimenting with mazes / traps / jumping puzzles on my server, when I get on the white list I would Def. love to help you build it!

You could make restrictions to building materials, like only stone derivatives for walls, only wood or logs for roofs, etc.

this is why I build underground mostly because I dont want to ruin what people got going on above ground with their fancy designs

Ok so a few of us have been playing on a hardcore server and trolling this other faction.

For those people, here is some useful info:

Because people don't seem to like reading help files:

If a faction is set as our Ally we cannot hurt them and vice versa. It takes both factions to agree to be allies before it takes effect

If a faction is set as neutral we cannot hurt them on their territory but we can in the wilderness. This is default

If a faction is set as our Enemy we can Hurt them on any land, however attacking them on their land reduces the damage we do.

All of these apply the other way around.

Every member has a Power stat that basically means how long you've gone without dying. The factions power stat is all of the members power stats combined.

If a faction has low power (coz we killed them a lot) we can claim their land if a moderator of our faction is around to claim it.

On our land, doors, chests, dispensers, furnaces, and diodes cannot be used by neutrals or enemies. Close doors behind to prevent entry. Doors with buttons or levers can be opened by enemies.

Ok so one of the Groupers got into our base and found our chest of stolen diamonds. They and the admin thought we had some kind of hack installed that gives diamond blocks, so he gave them free reign to dump creeper spawners all over our base, which is now mostly destroyed. I died in the process, no idea if any of the chests remain.

Even after accepting that we didn't hack in the diamonds, they all seemed to think we cheated, when they were the ones with admin given spawners.

I am going to be opening up a donation page for the server to keep it going if your interested in continuing to fund it. I am also going to be handing everything over to DarkMatterClock to run the server from now on. My current job kinda keeps me focused on programming that I hardly have time to work with it :(.

Q: Why does my nether portal suddenly take me to another place in the nether? I had built a tiny workplace around my previous portal. Not that it matters because I didn't find any fortresses nearby but if I do manage to spawn really close to one I'd like my portal to keep taking me to that location

There has been some precedent set wherein if you make it known you were just gonna be peaceful you'd be left alone, but if you did not do that (probably because you didnt know you had to), I don't think you can blame any also unknowing player for griefing something they find, unfortunately.

Clam has asked to be exempt from the game so he can build peacefully, I see no reason you can't too, as long as it's clear. Start a faction and call it Peaceful faction with a description of "dont destroy my shit plz", then claim the land you build on, thatll make it clear for everyone.

I am announcing the close of the server.

Being as this server is costing money to maintain and run I stated it would be available on the validation of use. In the last 30 days we have used only 1.8gb of traffic from 18 users for a total time of 5.1 hours of login time. The rest of the time was spent either "idle" and no concurrent connection was used or users just logged in, then logged off.

I will be shutting the service down soon. If you would like a back up, please ensure you have all mods to support the backup.
