I already own the Serious Digital edition, so i'm safe.
I like it when developers put funny stuff like this in when you pirate a game. Rather than buttfucking the consumer they can just play a prank on them. There's a few nintendo games that when you play a pirated version of them for twenty minutes, they say "thank you for trying this game, please buy the full version" which is another tactic I like.

Pirated Earthbound
I like how some people then go to the official forums to complain about it.
that's pretty funny. it's a good marketing technique too. you know what they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Yes there is definitely a thing such as bad publicity. That's a very stupid thing to say. Do you think BP's stock went up when people found out about the oil spill? Do you think it was better or worst for Hitler as everyone in the world found out about his death camps?
That is both hilarious and awesome

i tried clicking on that link for about 5 seconds
The only problem I could see is it triggering for legitimate customers. Otherwise, It's a clever way to get people to buy the game.
There was a horror game made a while ago (I forget the name) but it messed with you using audio and visual glitches and at one point it makes you think your data's corrupt or something.
Anyway pirated games should do those things.

That was one of the most evil things I've ever seen done and it was hilarious.
Pirated Batman Arkham Asylum doesn't let Batman glide. He just opens his cape and flaps it open and closed like a retard.
I love shit like this.

That was just because it was an unfinished, buggy version of the game which was leaked before the release date, not anything intentional on the developer's parts.

Eternal Darkness was just a joke that follows along with the game's "Sanity Effects".

Arkham Asylum did this.
When I played through it a second time a few months later it tricked me again. Glad I'm not on console or I may have hit the reset button.

I got it for PC, after a long time having problems with the graphics card, I was starting to get scared of having to deal with new shit.
