As specified by Mr.Tom Fulp in a recent news post (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1288722), there is now a countdown timer underneath the site news box on the frontpage, counting down to the redesign launch:

yeah tom was too late with the video thing. but I think they still have a good thing going on with their flash stuff and audio portal. the art portal isnt working that well imo

Edit: seems to be under heavy load, since everyones jumping right on it atm, but aside from the aesthetically pleasing-ness of it all, the biggest change im noting right now is that the Portal as we've known it is now the 'Classic Portal' option under 'Game' & 'Movies' tabs. I guess I'll speak further when the fucking thing begins functioning properly for me.

It looks amazing in my opinion. It would help if I could see more but the websites under such heavy traffic.

Good for the most part, but I hate that background picture. Hopefully I can change it once my profile loads and I can edit my settings.

i viewed the movies page (didn't understand how it worked in the short time i saw it) and the classic submissions page, then i viewed my profile for a bit, then i tried submitting a post to the bbs and then got a blank page, not really sure if it posted.

Seems like all the NG characters (save for the Tank/tankmen) have been reduced to that image on the 'classic portal'. That's disappointing.

I'm not sure what the background images are supposed to be. Are they content related or ads?

I went to go check this out and it seems the site is down again.

I think the new design has a nice interface, undecided on the new aesthetics. It seems like typical Newgrounds black/grey/gold/red with scanlines and such, the background images idk. Overall it doesn't seem like a bad redesign for functionality.

i can deal with the redesign but i dislike the new portal system.  it works for the art portal, but i think what they had (the list being in word form) worked really well for the games and movies

Not actually random, the background/footer/colors change depending on where you are on the site.

Red happens to be designated to movies, which is where you will always find ol' SBC at the bottom.

This redesign feels like eye-rape to me.

Its a little hard to navigate to find latest submissions (beyond the classic portal page) or figure out why certain movies are listed where they are (clicking the movies drop down still shows Astronaut's movie as a latest movie?)


Playing with some of the features tho.. I'm liking a lot of it.

The little messages on the movie pages about voting and reviewing fairly won't be heeded.. but its nice it matters to them

edit; Movie manager no longer says how many favorites your movies have... It would take me half an hour to figure out which of my movies has the most favorites now

Because it is the latest movie. There's some issue with uploading.

Anyway I don't like it, I already adblocked the backgrounds. Turd is gone, which sucks. Instead of providing authors with more information about their submissions like I don't know, how many people watched your movie the last week or whatever, they provide even less. Like how many people favorited a particular movie.

It seems like everything is worse and nothing is better. It's not just that it's change and makes me butthurt, this is seriously just a really bad redesign

I find the new design to be really confusing! One thing that really annoys me is that it doesn't tell you when you've deposited your experience for the day. It just tells you to keep voting. So i was like wait? Do I have to vote on more than 5 movies per day now to deposit experience? I had to go and look it up to make sure that it's still kept at 5.
Another thing is that you have to hover your mouse over the 5 stars to see the score of the film. That means that if you wanna check out if you've been able to raise or lower the score of a film, you first have to hover your mouse over the stars, then vote, and then hover your mouse over the stars again to check the new score. It's so unnessesary. Furthermore I'm really annoyed by the fact that I still haven't been able to figure out where you go if you want to change your aura and shit.

I like the looks of the new design, generally. It's not as compact as the old one, which is sort of a bummer because my screen resolution and taste in web design haven't really changed since the last redesign. I'm not too sure about the new site organization, but there are some things I like about it. Above all, I hope it works out in NG's favor!

its good to see they converted to html 5 and kept up with modern standards, so you can view the movies on mobile devices/tablets etc.

Stepping back and thinking of NG in relation to other sites on the web, the vote on 5 movies and then "thanks for the overtime!" thing was a really stupid idea, which should've been stopped long ago.  Implying a limit on how much a user ought to be browsing and contributing input to your site can only drive users away.

I can see why experience should only be gained for a limited number of votes to prevent abuse, considering that other websites do not have an equivalent to Grounds Gold. Yet it seems to be less important now. Rankings and voting power aren't even on the profile home pages anymore.

I wonder what place I'm in now? Last I knew I was 40-something...

I'm not so sure about the "clicks" measurement for web design quality. I think that what matters more is the amount of thinking the users has to do, because clicking is easy but thinking is hard.

As in, if there are 120 links to 120 different pages on one page I need to scan all those until I find what I want. But if those are divided into 6 sub-pages with 20 links on each, them that should be easier to deal with.

Since yesterday I've been getting "plugin missing" for every flash on the site even though my flash player is up to date in chrome. I have to open stuff up in firefox now. They also seem to of deleted my "CC Ultimate Hentai Collab" flash.

dang this redesign is ugly

Nice little decorations, design, whatever, everything runs more smoothly now that its been updated though, it's quite annoying that you have to squint to figure out what the icons next to your profile actually are. And the background color makes me feel like I'm part of some Communist party.

I hate it. It's just... bad...

As in, if there are 120 links to 120 different pages on one page I need to scan all those until I find what I want. But if those are divided into 6 sub-pages with 20 links on each, them that should be easier to deal with.

Yeah but my question is; Which site would ever need 120 links? Yeah I understand your point but I think you understand mine aswell; We don't need 1592 features that nobody was asking for, it just clogs up everything.

There's a lot of questionable stuff that came in with the redesign, but nothing I can't get used to.
