A quick google search tells me you can do this in AS2 using
trace(_root.ng_username);
trace(); will only output the name to your flash's output monitor or someshit so instead create a dynamic textbox and give it the instace name ngUserMessage. Then insert
ngUserMessage.text = "hello, " + _root.ng_username + ". You're a big goof.";into your movie's first frame (or wherever the dynamic textbox first appears) and you should be set.

Someone once found an exploit that allowed you to co-author anyone without their consent. I remember renaming all my shit flashes to some variation of 'Super Mario Bros Z episode (x)' an co-authoring Alvin-Earthworm to all of them. That was a fun couple of hours until Tom fixed it.
