I think people just latched onto Day Z because they're so desperate for a "realistic" zombie survival experience, which for some inexplicable reason a lot of people put up as the Holy Grail of gaming. They're so desprate that they'll even call a game with a bad interface, with poor graphics, and that's utterly infested with ganking Russians and trolls their game of the year.

the guest was probably me while I was banned. gotta keep checking them forums. isnt arma 3 coming out soon anyway?
arma is not all that fun. I like the fact that the arma series take a realistic approach but it takes all the fun out of gaming.
Currently i'm playing rising storm (red orchestra 2) which makes a good balance between "realism" and fun.
I like how Day Z is one of the only games steam has ever offered a full refund for.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of War Z, considering Day Z is a mod for ARMA 2 and has never been sold as far as I know.
