Impromptu buttflash weekend collab returns. You have until this sunday (November 25th) to submit your masterpieces.

SPECS
Frame Rate: whatever you want.
  I will be using 30 fps, but you use whatever and I'll take care of it for you.

Width + Height: whatever you want.
  Max size should be: 910 by 625, but use whatever and I'll take care of it for you.

Actionscript: 3.
  If you plan on using a vcam, make sure it's AS3 or else your movie will look hilarious and bad.

Any version of flash will do.

for future reference: AS3 makes it possible to change the movie's frame rate on the fly, so i would have been able to preserve your masterworks with stage.frameRate = 24 or whatever.

yeah i think it was added to AS3 when AS was rebuilt for better game development. dynamically changing the frame rate would normally be useful for graphically intense games, but we could totally use the feature to our collaborative advantage.

okay so i managed to compile everything but my own part and now i can't get the collab fla to open.

If you can get the collab file opened: everything is ready in terms of AS and shit. All you need to do is add my movieclip to that last empty frame (9?) & export. feel free to submit the movie under your own account, hero.

if no one can or wants to open the fla, i have the full swf ready to upload (which is totally fine by me considering my part is 4 frames on loop :/).

no error message at all, flash just crashes when trying to open the file. either the fla is corrupt or it's too heavy for my computer to reopen for some reason.

this same problem came up before when i compiled an AS3 version, so I thought "fuck it, I'll redo it in AS2 since everyone is using 30fps anyway." So i compiled the collab all over again but I'm still having trouble reopening this new file.

Did you save the shell as a seperate FLA or do you have to redo from scratch if you compile again?

It sounds like the FLA is exceeding the memory limit of the program... not your PC.. so I may not have any luck with it when I get home either..

the only shell i have is the buttflash fla from last year, but I had to import everything else, add AS, etc.

tbh, it really isn't a big deal if my part doesn't make it in. my name's in the menu and it'll just link to a blank frame with a "Go Back" button. no big deal

Also.. multiple attempts to fix the word crawl hiccup at the beginning of Slurpee's part (assuming it isn't unique to my browser) have been unsuccessful. :( I am guessing it is just too memory intensive for the flash player... ?

yeah the part is full of graphics and tweens, probably enough to lag in many browsers
