I'm on Shadowlands, playing as Discordja. Play this shit it's awesome. Star Wars immersion. Get all the macguffins. Be evil because good is dumb.

played it last year, was fun for a while. Don't feel like reinstalling it.

Could've been a lot better.

I'd consider it if it didn't have one of the most restrictive free to play models of any MMO in quite a long time.

Seriously SWTOR gives you so much less for free quite a few of the major free mmo's out there right now. I took one look at the free/paid/subscribed comparison chart and said nope.

I much prefer Guild Wars 2 anyway.

The difference is really not that big. They still give you everything you need to get through the plot line on a character. The only major change while you're leveling is that you only have one profession you can use rather than three. Still, it's not that limiting. I've been f2p for most of the time I've been playing and haven't had any trouble progressing. It's easy to get the gear you need and the professions are really not that important anyway. You can be f2p and still be doing the most damage in a flashpoint. Admittedly f2p sucks for the space-battle mode because you can only do 2 a week. I got a month and some extra cartel coins last week so that I could unlock the sith, make some more characters, and get my speeder for cheaper, but the actual difference in gameplay is pretty much nothing. You get a little more xp but it's not like it makes you progress through the game that much faster.

For me it's really about Star Wars immersion with full voice acting, dialogue options, and alignment. I don't much care how it stacks up against other MMOs. That said, I've played some of those other free MMOs, like DCU and STO, and they may give you a larger percentage of the content of the game for free, but they most certainly don't give you more. SWTOR's story elements are executed much better and, again, it's fully voice acted. That really changes things.

another problem I had was the damn art style. The Hutts in the game especially drove me nuts. They look so bad it's laughable.

They also needed a broader scope of species to choose from. All I wanted was an ithorian sith... :(
