Do ittttt
I suggest a
madcatz fightpad if you want a controller, but if you wanted an arcade stick specifically there are loads of other choices
If you plan on using a charge character, fightsticks are way better.
Wait, so can i fucking not play this with a keyboard?
I bought a nice MadcatzÃ,® that only worked for a little while. Started using a Wiimote with the little retro controller plugged in, works better than the controller actually made for computers

It'll be hard as shit, but it's possible. Do you have a wired xbox 360 controller? Because that works.
how the hell is it hard as shit, what's so different? Why are fighting games so complicated jesus fuck
And not anymore. I'm not even kidding, a black guy took mine ok black friend who never gave it back after borrowing for a night

I just picked this up at value village(thrift store), braving the hot weather.
2-3 bucks for it, im not sure if its gonna be great but might be good until I get a legit controller
Can't I just hook up my sega genesis controller
Quote from: VuBawlsClock;1953193Can't I just hook up my sega genesis controller
sure! but.
1) your going to need an adapter such as
http://www.amazon.com/Genesis-PC-USB-Cable-RETROLINK-Sega/dp/B0080RAT422) your going to need software to map your keys to keyboard buttons. something like Joy 2 key

That looks like it would feel awful.
Quote from: MightyBooshClock;1953196That looks like it would feel awful.
its surprisingly comfortable, and the buttons have nice action.
The analog seems kinda weird though I hope I can hadoken and dragon punk without problems
keyboard is fine it's like a less ergonomic hitbox, and a lot of people believe hitboxes to be the superior input method

For the movement use "qwd Space" with ring on Q, middle on W, index on D, and thumb on space
also be aware that arcade mode teaches you nothing because the AI is programmed to cheat in order to take quarters at the arcades. Play it a little to get familiar and then all you really need is practice mode and online
I dunno how much experience you guys have but 4 months ago I couldn't even do a special attack
Quote from: MightyBooshClock;1953175If you plan on using a charge character, fightsticks are way better.
Subjective, I'm having way better results with everything on pad. Charge characters included.
Pad vs stick vs hitbox vs keyboard is all personal preference. Whatever you're most comfortable with is what's best. Even if a stick has a technically higher skill cap than a pad it really doesn't amount to anything when you suck with a stick.
And now that I have these nice madcatz fightpads with 8 buttons and no squishy triggers, I really don't feel that I'm at any disadvantage to stick players.
I'd say play on a controller and if you like the game still, get a brawlstick which often goes on sale down to 20 or 30 dollars, and once you're sure you want to use stick and not a controller/pad, upgrade the stick.
If you have an Xbox controller for PC gaming like I did it should be good to gauge your interest.
There are some very high level players that use a plain old 360 controller rather than a stick, though stick is definitely more common at tournaments. Skill matters way more than control style in the end.

I only recommend they try it out to see, I know my arcade stick really improved my enjoyment. I'd only say get one if you know you will continue to play fighters a lot.
What am I getting myself into

Thats what I use.
Price is back to 90 for 4 copies
comes to 22.50$
I bought my copy of SFXT on eBay for less but it doesn't have steam its the Windowze serial version which sucks because it doesn't save the serial. (ie. if someone finds my copy they can cockblock me off the internet like old Blizzard games).
In other news.
My hitbox iz custom nobody has it #swag
