not saying we cant also keep posting on newgrounds.
however if we get noticed on youtube it should bring us a lot more attention and we can use more video editing software for our videos and have different kind of videos.
no games on youtube though so I guess those still go on newgrounds.
maybe youtube is too big but idk
EHEHEH HE IS KIDDING TOM FULP PLEASE KEEP TAKING CARE OF OUR HOSTING WE LOVE YOU
I feel like the Clock Crew doesn't really have the cultural relevance to support itself on Youtube. Maybe if we had made the push a couple years ago, but at this point Youtube is already a great big corporate shithole with its strange ins-and-outs. I don't see a way we could feasibly make it big on there.
we should make porn and post it on xvideos, xnxx, tube8, spankwire, pornhub, etc etc.

Quote from: AstronautClock;1954132how much is hosting for this site. does anyone know?
idk but we're not talking about that because cost aside hosting has never been
stable except under Tom
before Tom, we went through... at least 8 hosts, that I can think of. Cran, Traekwon, Bio, Koala, Zen, Virus/Magic, Bit, Strange, and that kind of post-Bit gestalt where whatshisface was paying but Bit had control of the DNS and still other ppl were taking care of all the webberly duties.
Tom's lasted longer than all of them combined, with minimal downtime. 'cause he
rulesthat said, I was completely kidding, and I'm almost certain Tom wouldn't mind us expanding our internet footprint
we would totally promote newgrounds ;);)

i was gonna write soemthing along those lines, but your post is better than mine, so yeah. that sums it up.
we are not for youtube material. unless we will post videos of funny stuff with our irl selves

that would be swell! also: you have a boat?!
so, about youtube:
yeah, but i have a strong point on why we shouldn't focus on youtube.
FIRST:
the only clock-made movies that became famous in youtube, were
-strange-clocks bizzare movies
-leek-clocks films
-renegade-clocks epic animations
and both leek, and strange used real life action, and not animation for it, so it defeats the purpose of doing flash to get famous in the first place.
-assuming we want to get our crew and animations known in youtube-
SECONDLY:
ONLY VIRAL videos, and real-people movies get alot of views and fame in youtube. not animations. not even good ones.
THIRD:
the only movies about the clock crew that became famous in youtube, were floppydisks ''floppydisk calls tom green'' (which was a great opportunity for clock-crew recognition, and fame outside the internet) and leek-clocks ''being strawberry clock''
and they dont even have that many views to begin with.
case closed.
Like I said, I don't have a dog in this fight other than I don't view content on newGrounds anymore, but do videos uploaded now get more views by compare? Also the way this forum cuts of my words in the text editor annoys me. Tangent.
I think only maybe 2 of my old HS friends even know what NG is anyway. And my Raisin doing his comic thing at Toonhole makin' comics.
If you submit to Newgrounds, you're going to at the very least have a few hundred views on it. There's so many videos on youtube that only have one or two views.
However as far as "internet popularity" is going, you have a better shot at that on Youtube than on Newgrounds.
I didn't really view it in terms of popularity, I mean I guess the CC really could get popular if we you know... gave the characters unique personalities, wouldn't even have to be voices, just so viewers could relate. Also hard with no admission (Clockification is really DUMB) but meh.

Well that's up to the specific clock crew members if they want to give their characters unique personalities or not.

Which is why I meh'd. I don't really animate, or now how to do it well ... even a little. Also Vubawls, you exceed your PM limit, do some manscaping.

Keep in mind, your clock could be portrayed by someone else in a way that you don't believe that character would act like.
For example I have a clear idea of the SBC character, but other people who make flash movies have done things with the character that I wouldn't have done. Some flash movies have him acting the polar opposite that he's acting in other flash movies. But then again, its their flash movie not mine and most of the time I find their version of SBC a lot funnier than what I would have done.
k i got it cleaned.
also I started uploading all my stuff to youtube just because.
It woudnt hurt to just upload what we make to youtube too

Clockification, what's that?
Also, I think some members have put a lot into the development of their characters. BB10, Flounderman, Tropicana, that Poptart guy. I think they all have very distinct personalities.

NG's been investing pretty heavily in the video format lately, and I'm to understand that they hope to go the full distance with it as far as youtube-esque versatility goes. I hope they get it out the door soon because I'd love to see the site make an upwards turn in popularity again.

CC continuity and characterization is like Batman continuity and characterization, but without the editorial oversight that keeps it delineated
the resulting canon is as if over the course of a single twelve year-long TV season, Adam West's Batman got his back broken by luchador Bane, donned a benippled neon rubber suit, killed the George Reaves Superman by punching him to death in a mud pit, became a Green Lantern, blew up a castle full of ninjas, launched into a musical number with NPH, then went home and hung out with his friend Piderman. Also Cesar Romero blew up a hospital, vandalized a museum, and shot Batgirl in the spine.
it's glorious.
Youtube is really weird about what they delete. Hell Goosh Goosh is still up.

But it was possible to follow ... something, to relate to the characters. I just think we have enough people to relay voices to create that, though I know it will never happen, it is what it is, we h'ad' too many animators... whether or not that's true anymore....
Clock Crew should just be trolling idiot youtube stars and making video responses to anime etc. Who cares if we won't get any views, it's not like we really have any presence anywhere anyway.

It wouldn't kill us to upload some of the stuff we upload to NG, especially thanks to Swivel. Put the NG & CC logo in the beginning, links in the beginning of the description (that people actually see), but yeah, YouTube isn't very Internet Wild West by way of what can be uploaded. "Click here for the sexy raunchy things we couldn't upload to YouTube!" would sound better than "click here for fart jokes and cartoon dicks in completely nonsexual situations! We're just immature!"

youtube is really a no brainer, leek clock was already ahead of the game in 2006.
Our biggest strength is our numbers, and mass voting. We could double our audience by just submitting to both sites. Another aspect about youtube is that it doesn't just centralize around animation. Stop Motion, Video editing, whatever you can come up with. Meanwhile we're all liking each others submissions. what if everything you made have at least 7 likes from the clockcrew, thats not too shabby.
Youtube would also be great place to troll. Infact videos can get biews just by users beefing it out in the comments.

I think alot of it has to do with our origins as well. Back when the CC was just starting, a large deal of our identity came from people getting upset at clock movies, which in turn gave us a ton of publicity, and fed into the machine that we are today.
Where as with Youtube, it's really, REALLY big. It's probably near impossible to rally against any sort of community there, because the majority of it are just bored people watching random videos. Approaching it with a spammy approach wouldn't really accomplish anything, because people don't get upset over it.
I'm not saying I'm against the idea, but we'd have to rally our quality into a central channel
*cough*, as well as establish some sort of olive branch to YouTube, which is a mighty big commitment. We've already done this to a minor extent, but there's still a lot of work that would have to be done for a more heavier transition to Youtube.

Fucking with people on Newgrounds is as easy as making movies, which puts our chunks in the stream of crap Newgrounds users slog through daily. If they're wading in the stream, we'll hit them eventually.
Fortunately, YouTube likes streams of content, too. Not having a Portal, or single stream, of new content on YouTube just means that there are any number of streams going at the same time. Thus:
Quote from: MSPaintClockClock Crew should just be trolling idiot youtube stars and making video responses to anime etc.
Fucking around with the same audience(s) repeatedly on YouTube, despite our small number, just means picking targets who have lots of subscribers, and injecting our crap into their streams. This would probably mean video responses, and being completely insufferable in the comments en masse, in the hours/days following the target releasing a new video. So what I'm saying is basically we gotta be the Westboro Baptist Church

That's not how Clocks should -ahem- "troll". I never picked targets as SBC (unless they would leave thousands of reviews on Clock flashses saying "I blammed this" like ki10 did). I just made whatever and waited for everybody to come to me.
You don't go around seeking flamers, you wait for the flamers to come to you. If someone doesn't have a problem with us, we shouldn't have a problem with them.
Actively going to other people for for negative attention just seems sad and desperate.

that's a great input, strawberry clock!
tho, i must ask you, what should we do?
should we go and search for recruits? i suggested long ago, that we should search for recruits in
albinoblacksheep.com,
kongregade.com,
stickpage.com,
madnesscombatforums.com, bandcamp and to go in many other flash sites, in order to renew our depletting numbers.
an other solution would be to lure people with the promise of video game parody flashes, that actually are cleverly disguised clock flashes, leading them to join our site. many will leave, but few will stay with us, if they have the right set of eyes (and mind) for the cc.

yes, but now we're at a very low standpoint, and i think making recruitment flashes or advertising our flashes to other flash sites, would be a good idea, since for example camp

I think it's a good idea to hit up on YouTube. It's not something that you have to necessarily "trade-in" you can simply post on it as well. If we feel inspired to submit there, I don't think there's anymore incentive needed than that. But the thing is, I don't think that being funny is important, I don't think being trolls are important, I don't think being fuckin' accordant or congruent in the vision of what we would do on YouTube is important (cause that shit will never happen anyway, imho) and I may be a new member, for all you know, but I think the youtube thing is a really good idea, and the most important thing is to complete whatever idea you have for a flash, and to get it out there, that's ALL that's important.

well, that case is the exception.
but, in most cases of animations/cartoons in youtube, the views are either very few, or significantly smaller than those of a viral video. (like, an animation could get at best, a 800,000 views, while a viral video could get 10M views.)

bb10: the problem it's that youtube is a big mass of random videos so they can't spotlight good movies like NG can do (that also haves "Under Judgement" even if it's shit actually and everything pass), they just spotlight commercial things like i don't know... Actually, it's not a bad idea. Newgrounds had the perfect start-up market for the CC. It was smallish at the time and easy to get noticed and make our huge stain in NG history as the site blew up. The problem now is that Newgrounds now is like a still body of water. While there is plenty of action there, it's impossible for the CC gain any more than what we already have. Our name has been made. We're like the cool kids in high school. While we can sit at the best lunch table in Newgrounds and everybody says whats up when we walk by, within the whole internet, we ain't shit. YouTube is like a huge college that we want to go to, but are too scared that we won't fit in there.
On the plus side, quirky weird things usually become popular on YouTube. We'd just need to think of it as a fresh start rather than a continuation of our old Newgrounds antics. We'd just need to rework the formula a bit to fit in with a different crowd and grow into their hearts just like we did over at Newgrounds. Maybe instead of focusing on inside jokes, silly slapstick, and Wade Fulp we start experimenting with things in the bigger picture like politics, new technologies, etc and put our own CC spin on things. Things that appeal to the masses and not just us and the Newgrounds populace. That's why we haven't become popular there yet, they don't get us. Most of them don't know NG exists and have never heard of us so of course they won't find "BBBBBBBB I want to drive" funny. They don't know our character's personalities yet and don't want to unless we can give them an easy way to learn it. What better way than by giving them material that they will understand and be entertained by? Then we can slowly introduce the more intricate jokes and historical events in the CC's past.
A good start would maybe be a CC news program. It could be a weekly contribution with several authors providing a humorous approach to several of the weeks top real news stories. YouTube users love making fake news programs and they seem to be quite popular, so we could do it CC style. Keep it tasteful so we don't destroy our reputation before it starts, we'll through in some wit and maybe some slap stick to keep it humorous and cartoony, and collaborative to demonstrate our collective artistry and how we function as a group.
Might as well just make your own site that only hosts CC cartoons/videos and have Youtube link to it.
Soup I gotta say that all sounds great and even if people think it would be LAME to do a news show, well fuck that shit because it's something that even if people have a problem with couple contribute their bits to and not be bitchy about it, and whatever comes out of it is what we really want to do but it would be a great way to get everyone together and energies rolling high and mighty! I know that last part made no sense but think of it as a garnish.
Aint about being popular or fitting in it's about trolling dumb knocks who think bathing a cat is abuse

LIKE THOSE CONING VIDEOS
ONLY WITH STRAWBERRY CLOCK INSTEAD OF ICE CREAM
OR SOMETHING
how about you trade in your dicks for a pussy.

that would be a great help to all of us submitting CC -vids to youtube. great work! thats a good step for our yt campaign.

thats a good idea, soup-clock, tho, should the ''news program'' be animated, or with real-life people doing wacky stuff, and saying cool CC trivia?
i understand that perhaps you mean the animated one, but both ideas seem cool.
what else should we do?
Quote from: SilverClock;1955042Might as well just make your own site that only hosts CC cartoons/videos and have Youtube link to it.
seriously, why do you have to be a pessimistic, snarky jerk with
everything?
this is clock-crew's future we're talking about man, we should think forward, if we want the CC to live for 10 more years!
your views about this provide nothing but defeatism, and negative thinking.

also, that should work. i know that SBC said, ''let the flamers to come at you, not the other way around'', but still, we MUST troll someone.(only those who deserve/are asking for it) who knows, maybe the next k1io is out there!
but also, we SHOULD try to fit in, and to make a GOOD name for ourselves. cause, we are more than a trolling group. we are a NG legend, and animators(myself not included)
That was actually a serious suggestion you knobgobber. It would be an easy way to put things on youtube but also have them all grouped together under a unified CC roof.

NOW THIS IS AN IDEA

fixed
well, that would be a great idea and all, but:
1.the coding needed for this would be a logistic nightmare.
it would need a master-coder expert like roman-clock, or satellite (clock) to manage this.
2.it would require quite a large server to host the ammount of movies that we want to showcase on youtube.
3.how exactly will those videos/cc movies link into youtube? i thought the point was to SUBMIT them to youtube to get some fame, not link them like a ''random vid'' from some site.
but the idea seems good, nontheless. like a ''myfrogbag'', but for linking CC movies to youtube.
tho, i think we should also submit movies to yt, instead of just linking them from our cc themed ''hosting'' site.
