Title: The Void III
Post by: PolyhedronClock on September 16, 2013, 05:29:11 PM
THE VOID III

Here's the plan. It's been almost ten years since The Void II (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/83250) was released, and I say it's about damn time we finish it. There has always been people expressing a desire to do so, and while everyone is going to want to help, we're going to approach this in a more traditional sense of a collaboration.

STAGE ONE - WRITING

To start, we're going to need some writers. A small collective of 4-5 writers would seem appropriate, brainstorming idea's off of each other. I'm want to try and get a hold of BlueClock to see if he wants to be involved in this part, seeing how The Void was originally his baby, and he should have a say in the creative process. Don't expect to get the plot complete on the first draft, as not everything will be golden the first time around. Brainstorm, rewrite. Brainstorm, rewrite.

STAGE TWO - STORYBOARDING

After we get a draft that will roughly lay out the groundwork for the movie, we can move on to the next parts. It's very possible the writers will edit the story again, so be ready to change/add anything the plot demands. This part of the process will be about getting a working storyboard of the movie, setting up scenes with good depth and camera angles.

The people involved in this should have some understanding of basic cinematography. This part of the process doesn't need to look great, just convey to the artists what needs to be done. This part might be expanded to have an animatic depending on how quick progress moves along.

STAGE THREE - THE ART

This part will be divided into two parts. We'll need artists for characters and backgrounds. We will want the art direction to be similar to the original voids, in the sense that the characters are shaded simply, and the backgrounds that can use slight gradients. The background artists here should be looking to the storyboard artists concerning setting up depth, camera shots, etc. We want to keep this made in flash, unless specified.

We'll want the two to work closely together, as such that the style doesn't clash too horrendously. Once we have enough of the elements ready, we can move on to the animation bit. Koala volunteered to make some CRAZY SICK 3D EFFECTS!!!! reminiscent of the tank scenes in the Void II, so keep this in mind.

STAGE FOUR - THE ANIMATION

This part is pretty self explanatory, we're going to want the best of the best here. The animators will use the art elements that the Art team has created, while looking to the storyboard for pacing and direction. MORE FILLER ADDING HERE LATER~!!!

STAGE FIVE - MUSIC/SOUNDS

Ideally, we want everything used here to be royalty free. There's plenty of high quality music/sounds out there that we can legally use. If someone wants to make some amazing sounds for this, then by all means throw it at us, and if it's good we'll put it in. The more we use resources specifically created for this the better.

As of right now, we're missing out on details concerning what version of flash, dimensions, etc. Once we start to get people signing up for this, we'll poll the team and get a consensus on what works best for everyone.

Yeah, this song kind of defines The Void. I feel like if we can make a substantial push away from using copyrighted music, we could really advertise the shit out of this movie outside of Newgrounds. This is open to change though, as is everything in this collab.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm actually pretty satisfied with this (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/259301) being The Void III.

Or this (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/189364) if you don't like superfluous dashes.

I think those are all great interpretations. But the funny thing about incorporating time travel into your story is that as soon as you do, there are an infinite number of alternate timelines you can play with; so even if you officially end the VOID series, it never really "ends" and can be open to interpretation continuously.

here's what i have, sorry if it contains my posts as well. i mainly saved slurpee's epic post about the void, including and my posts.

Quote from: Slurpee;1961252Best Void III is PTF2.

Also, that's how i think the Void should end:
Quote from: BilliardBall10;1961112''The whole city, and the clock-universe, despite Pineapples & Strawberry's best intends, gets swallowed by the void, and everyone, and everything vanishes in the darkness.

But then, a light sparks from inside the darkness, and destroys the darkness. Now there is light everywhere.

And, from the light, we see the B getting born again, and the founders of the clock-crew emerge again from the nothingness, being reborn.

the CC history starts again.''

haha wait no way really? damn. this is from blue, tho? makes perfect sense. I hope I have made it clear that this makes perfect sense. >:|

I mean, that's the point. fuck time travel. No, really.Time travel is incidental, it has nothing to do with the Void, or about it's powers.
The Color clock's attempt to save the clocks, is futile, it is about children trying to save their parents.
The case here is: the higher, more sophisticated Clocks from the Future, (Color Clocks) try to help, and aid the ''lower'' and more primitive Clocks, (the clocks of the current time).
But what we see here is: without the past clocks (the ones of the ''current time''), the future clocks would never exist.

This, uh... this would be an appropriate place to shoehorn in the new clocks, incidentally. (Man, I am agreeing with BB10 a lot!)
I don't think I have to explain why, but in case I do: It illustrates the victory. They wouldn't make any sense in the continuation of the story that started in 2003, but emerging after the storm? Fuck yes. The current generation of clocks has been the logical, expected, and inevitable result of the creations of older generations. This is how clocks reproduce, man: the strong core memetic consistency of our core idea proliferates through our art, and our creations draw in and inspire others like us, to create more. We defeat the madness of nothingness with creation. Newer clocks, standing alongside older ones, illustrates the victory.

But I mean that's just me.

also, koala clock mentioned, in responce to polyhendron's posts, that the new movie should have:

-few flashbacks, not too many because they will make the storyline confusing, and the audience will get very confused,

-IF there will be a flashback or a mention  about the colour clocks it will be brief, or simply a mention. (tho, it will be very rewarding to see how the world/era of the colour clocks looks like!)

-in the beggining of the Void III, there will be a few flash backs from the Void I and II, because according to him, (and rightfully), the viewers might not even remember the movie, at all.

so, this will happen, to re-introduce the movie's storyline, and to familiarise the viewer with the Void happenings.

and, um they considered waiting for lump to finish his script, and to give to slurpee the work of writing the majority of the script.(and for good reason, since he;s very detailed and eloquent)

also, koala and poly have discussed the possibillities, of better understanding the SACRED CLOCK, or aka, the herald of the destruction in the Void universe.
(mostly koala here)

need any more info? i remember most of the discussions from mind, pop-tart.

So.. Flashbacks to set up the movie.

And still rearranging stuff is what I'm getting.

I entirely forgot what the others said late last night. Something about a pyramid shooting light and Red Green Blue rays sucking in the pyramid.
(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cloudave.com%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F06%2FChaus001-296x300.jpg&hash=a4218f4b477136072fae4fee62bd0da331f8918d)

And Bill mention those sucked in the void do not recall the accounts that has happened right?

And some people post to push the idea of putting in new clocks because we're the future of sorts. (is this what the color clocks meant for time travel?)

I also said something about Strawberry Clock being tested by the "void" talking to the "possessed" clocks sucked in the void.

Another clock said this void is basically like a "blam"

Under judgment-Color Clocks
Verge Of Death-Void
Obituaries-Dead flash sucked in the void.
Submission-???

and From that, I believe Blue's intention about B being reborned is the result.  Which is why I said is similar to the history of A to B. Despite at odds, Somehow the submission passed theme is probably an aspect of the conclusion of the void trilogy. No one knows why or how, It just passed and became an legacy for all the clocks who fought to the bitter end in their time.

excellent idea, here, verite!

having the survivors of the void battle being ''reborn like B'', and carrying the legacy of the clock-kind alive.

also, i have to ask: should we voice act, or use speakonia?
i think that voice-acting could add alot of emotion and feeling into this movie, and that is needed in such an epic project.
ideas? suggestions?

also, did lump complete his script? and where's slurpee?

Haha, oh, man. It's like the universe is trying to conspire against us from this. Are you sure we have no way to bring a backup of anything archived pre wipe Pop-Tart?

Odds are that we'll have to start brainstorming the idea's from scratch again. Most of them came from interpretations from Blue's original design for the Void 3, most of it was information gathered from various sources. BB10 also had some information as well concerning Blue. Anyone guys still have that bit of information lying around?

I'd still be willing to help out with plot details and stuff so long as I gots other folks helping me out *ahem slurpee and koala*

Here are the aspects I think are important to answer (in my opinion):

- What happens to you when you go inside the Void
- What is the Void
- What is the Void doing/what is its purpose

Here are some notes to help launch discussion again.

- The clock that goes inside of the Void isn't destroyed. He comes back out, sorta like a zombie, and immediately attacks the leader, Strawberry Clock. So, clearly this Void knew how to reprogram this clock to try and take down the top targets of the Clock Crew.
- I figure the Void is either a giant blam or, if we're dealing with time shenannigans, Flash becoming obsolete in lieu of shit like After Effects and all that other junk.
- Inside the Void is a bunch of representation of obsolete shit, like a VHS video filter, 8bits and 16 bits, .gif decompression, all that jazz.

Then I think it's important to answer these questions after we've answered those first three:

- What are the color clocks doing in time to save the CC from the Void.
- Who's alive, who isn't, what is the state of the resistance.

So, even though we lost a whole shitload of stuff (can we seriously not get any of those old posts back? did we seriously just trash the whole last week without any sort of plan on saving important stuff?) we can still keep this train rolling.

Koala and Slurps, I know you guys have already thought a shitload about the movie, and even if you don't have all the notes you typed you still got yo brains. I think if we just answer those questions we can keep moving forward like we didn't lose anything.

Besides, a lot of those notes were concerned with keeping some continuity in check, and, while I do love continuity and think it's important, we're trying to sequel a 7+ year old movie, I think we can let a lot of shit slide.

I don't want to shut you down on your important questions but..

 1. You turn into a Zombie like being apparently..(EP2) really though it would too much to go into and you need the void IV to continue IMH.
 2. Some kind of tear or Black Hole. Really not necessary to explain anymore. (EP2) Even if Future Clocks should explain could ruin it.
 3. Sucking Stuff in/ Purpose seems like to destroy the Clock Crew (duh) but WHY though could be "explored"/ talking in deep pitched gibberish.

But yeah, lets just keep going anyway. I bet there was tons ideas gone in these past years.

I feel there's no need to get in depth with the void itself anymore. If this movie is going to serve its conclusion, we don't need to explain more about "darkness" themed stuff and focus on "Light" out of the void. This time travel stuff really can get messy and I think of terminator 1-3 movies.

Sounds like I'm trying to reach that The Dark Knight Rises idea in some way.. but that's just me.

I'll think of something eventually...

Here are the aspects I think are important to answer (in my opinion):

- What happens to you when you go inside the Void

i will say my two cents!

1. when you enter the Void, you either get destroyed,(like piney's probes sent to investigate)  OR, if you're USEFULL for the Void itself, you are re-programmed to serve the Void, for various pruproses.

so, in some cases, you become a fully-obedient zombie creature who opens portals, and kills/kidnaps important clock targets.

2. i suspect that it is a tear/a black hole in the space-time area, caused by mysterious effects and that's it.
(tho, it CAN adapt and uses clock/human weaponry pretty well (remember when it fires the tank bombs back to the attackers?)

3. the Void consumes. it conquers, destroys, and eliminates everything. like a black hole, it's sole purpose is ti eliminate everything on it's path, and to be the last thing remaining.

BUT! this thing HAS intelligence. it wants to eliminate strawberry clock. and we dont know why, but he MUST be important, because it really tries to kill/kidnap him, and it even sends a zombie-void-clock to kidnap him.

so, SBC has something that we dont. but what is it?

i suspect it's B. we must find a way to connect B with the black hole of the Void.
is the Void, the blam itself? ir the Void, the passage of time, that destroys everything on it's path?
we dont know. but what i know, is that united clocks, and strawberry's B, can stop it.

to make more discussions,
do you guys also think that the activation of the ''sacred clock'' was a mistake, and it's activation from the colour clocks caused nothing but trouble?

(also suggesting that this ''sacred clock'' is a time machine from the future, sent to the past, and activating it caused a tear in the time-space continuum, thus creating a black hole.the Void.)

do you want a cameo? what does your clock looks like?
Quote from: Tropzilla;1962974ive never been more serious in my life, progress report
ok trop,

right now, im making a crowd consisting of modern and old clocks. i want to add you as well. do you have an .fla of yourself?

ALSO: i will need a voice-actor, to voice act as one of the main antagonists in this. who is available for this?

i need an impessive, imposing voice, and i want the voice actor to keep it a secret, because a few lines that he will say, will be spoilers for the movie.

i will send you the .fla, but not now, its too early, im only 18% done.

thank you, trops!

AS FOR THE VOICE ACTING:

topcatyo, and tropicana, show me a sample of an impressive, dominant voice.
how would (lets say) steak-clock sound? how would a tall, towering enemy of the CC sound like?

say a few lines, and post them here.
say anything you want.

(if you want something specific, then say ''this is your end, clock crew!'' or ''your time is nigh'' or something)
