alright alright i guess u can talk about ur animes
these days I am basically afraid to commit to watching anime unless one of the following conditions is true
1) at least one person who i would want to talk to about it is also currently watching it, or has recently finished it
2) somebody describes it using the phrase "it's really good", verbatim
User was banned for this post - me too i dont care much for the anime

no this ismth thread about animes please talk about anime in this thread
i dont know anything about animes tho. are they those things that Nemo lived it?
oh good I was worried we wouldn't be able to talk about anime but it seems it is actually allowed
I am a big fan of Dare mo shiranai (2004), a drama anime based loosely on a real-life incident that took place in Japan in the 1980's, in which a mother abandoned her 5 underaged (and in some cases, not legally documented) children for a period of 9 months, resulting in two deaths. it is a compelling anime portrait of child abandonment and an indictment against society for not only enabling the neglectful parenting that started this, but allowing the situation to continue unabated.
well, director Hirokazu Koreeda release a new anime film last year called Soshite Chichi ni Naru, not to be confused with the Kirk Cameron film of the same name, about a father who discovers his child was switched with another at birth. it is not yet available on DVD or Crunchyroll, but there are high quality rips available if you know where to look. definitely worth checking out if you are into the more serious anime side of japanese film.
and coming out tomorrow (!) is Chiisai ouchi, from Yoji Yamada, acclaimed director of 2002's Twilight Samurai anime as well as the majority of the 48 entries of the storied Tora-san series. Yamada is perhaps only lightly regarded at best by serious anime critics outside of Japan, and from the looks of things Chiisai won't be changing that, but it does least of all look to be a worthwhile period piece anime. it's said to be told largely anime in flashbacks, the anime story of a woman and her family's lives in Tokyo during anime World War 2. as a westerner it is interesting to look at the Nippon arts community's approach to a war of which they came out on the losing side.

I did my best to defend the animes, but apparently bans mean more than defending the userbase.
Quote from: MiracleFruitClock;1966699kerfuffle
I prefer to use that kind of word when the topic of controversy is totally not worth the energy spent doing something about it.
Watching and reading Silver Spoon right now. Who knew it would be so entertaining learning about pig reproduction.
I didn't really love the first episode but I keep getting told it gets better. Right now watching quite a few things, but namely Kill la Kill, Golden Time, Nobunagun, and Engaged to the Unidentified.

pig reproduction and anime can only go one way
So am I crazy or did Kiryuin's Mom just molest/pleasure her?
Also, since all the Aliens are female and all the Predators we see are presumably males (or at the very least represent masculinity as a symbol), does that make Alien VS Predator a Man VS Woman, or a Feminine VS Masculine story?

on your guys' suggestion I started checking out old school dragon ball. Didn't realize how funny this series is, but also didn't realize how much of it is just characters being pervy as hell...
Quote from: Lump Clock;1967125So am I crazy or did Kiryuin's Mom just molest/pleasure her?
I feel like this totally isn't even going to be a plot point, even if they deliberately made the scene have an obvious sexual interpretation. Oh, no, that's not molestation, that's just a ~ritual cleansing~.
She was totally into it. You must have superimposed your own sexual fantasies on it, silly boyth.
Another day, another fanservice. Satsuki continues to be a regular Nazi.
Quote from: VCRClock;1967153Another day, another fanservice. Satsuki continues to be a regular Nazi.
Yeah, the whole thing was just really uncomfortable and I could've done entirely without.
Three possibilities:
1. It's just simple fanservice, in which case god damn trigger settle down a bit.
2. she seriously assaulted Satsuki. That would be really fucked up and I would never have expected the show to take such a dark turn. I'm not sure how I feel about Kill la Kill seriously tackling issues like sexual child abuse. I don't go into this show to be sad. Got plenty of other stuff for that.
3. It was actual consensual relations between satsuki and ragyo and they are incestuous god damn fashion nazis what the didly dang fuck man. (Though in this case it could still be a product of long term child abuse leading to a sort of stockholm syndrome.)
I'm kinda hoping they meant it to be super creepy?
Also they mentioned that the mom is over 200 years old, so she may not even be her actual mother, maybe she was forced into this position as the Kiriyuin's heir.

This week, on a very special episode of Kill la Kill...

I. FUCKING. KNEW IT.
ive officially watche dmore episodes of swimming anime than attack on titan
the butterly nerd almost drowned, which triggered donny's ptsd from when his granpa's fish drowned, then they went to a haunted house, and now... everybody is still friends and nothing is bad ever. friendship! except raph. raph is still being a dick about stuff but you can tell he secretly still likes them.
next raph and leo are finally gonna race and i can't believe it
they are totally dancing in a leather club at the end

haha what the hell
Yes, people were quick to point that out when it first aired. To me Free! was basically like seeing one of those silly fanservice anime that crop up each season except this time it was aimed at the fujoshi crowd for once.
I totally called Satsuki and Matoi being sisters.

after a nekkid molestation threesome fantasy with her moms and soul sister harime nui, ryouko gives nui a big wet kiss for no particular reason
