Title: WARNING: suspicious admins on board.
Post by: BilliardBall10 on February 25, 2014, 05:56:58 PM
so, i was lurking once again the CC forums page, looking at who logged in today, and i found those two admins with funny names:

http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/member.php?15897-vbb8684f

http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/member.php?15896-FunnyClip1

in the beggining, i thought that they might be some clocks joking around with their names, but -THIS IS THE ODD PART-
they have ZERO posts, ZERO statistics, and they have been created TODAY. (well it was 25th of february when they got created, so yes).
is this a hackers attempt to take over the forum?

enlighten me clock crew.

also: this is not a serious threat, but i checked the ''currently online'', thingy, and 3 hours ago, it told me that only me, and zombie linclock were online, along with 37(!) guests.
while i normally understand that since we're awesome, many kids from NG may visit out site, and look in our threads as guests....

...still, i checked it out, and all the threads that they've been looking, were OLD, forgotten 2009-2010 threads, that noone had posted in them for a long time.
and not even one was in a current, or an old-but-visited thread page(like the ones we did in the goldmine threads)

so, whats the deal? are those guests bots from a statistics site, or they are simply gusy who love dead 2009 threads?!
i hope its not hackers, i dislike this case.

i know, but shouldn't we... DELETE those malicious bots?
or we should at least limit their admin privileges.

i dont want us to be sitting ducks.

also, we should delete all the suspicious old accounts that had 0 posts/and or absolutely 0 activity.
(not innactive old user accounts, just the suspicious accounts that were done for hacking, and the ones that had 0 posts/stats)

Quote from: PatriotClock;1968339i found some other suspicious admins
haha, very funny. :/

Yeah dude, we delete them everyday. There's a code that keeps recreating them. We can't access FTP at the moment to locate and eradicate the script.

That being said... vbulletin is terrible... and taking this forum in a different direction is inevitable..

(we should revamp this project)

also: we should delete the old accounts with 0 posts, and with 0 activity. they might have been malicious all along.

Deleting accounts is a bitch due to the damage the bots did to the control panel.

The bots' goal... and this is an educated guess... is to reinstall that redirect script that got us the malware flag w Google last year.

We have HIV and are trying to treat it before we get full blown AIDS...

That seems like a pretty major issue. Have you guys talked to Tom? is he not responsible for the website's hosting?

We've talked to Tom about it, but for now we're taking matters into our own hands. This is a VB vulnerability issue. Right now all we can do is just delete the admins as they show up.

The FTP access and the malbots issue are not related. Just fun coincidence. FTP is due to a set up snafu when NG migrated us to a new server.

Again, we are doing something. Trust us.

We took a vote and decided to sell this site off to Malaysian interests so we're in the process of migrating. Eventually our new Malaysian overlords will be in control of this forum and word on the street is they're into the Quran so you better read up.
