Title: 10 Second Collab III
Post by: RobClock on September 09, 2019, 11:17:59 AM
I'm chomping at the bit with creative ambition at the moment but the larger project I've started is liable to take some time, so I had the thought of pumping out a few quick little shorts- why not get some other people in on the action? Hence;

It's been  (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/600127)a while (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/629183), but it's a timeless concept. A ten second clip, whatever you'd like it to be. It can be as artistic and grandiose or lazy and irreverent as your heart desires!

Specs: 1280x720, 24 FPS (Flash 8 Compatibility would be optimal)
Please label all symbols in your library with your name ie "rob_symbol1". It makes compiling things much much easier.

Submit your .fla to me via PM here or on the discord though I primarily check the forums first.

Potential deadline: September 30th/October 1st

Participants will receive this lovely pixel award assuming I can successfully nag a staffer to distribute it (https://i.imgur.com/xGFiaPE.png)

Redbook coming in hot with a part finished already! Now is probably a good time to mention that as with the original two, I’m open to multiple parts from anybody willing to produce them. Might limit it at 3 per contributor depending on how many parts are submitted but who am I to stifle creativity?

Yep and I’m thinking I’ll end up submitting in mp4

This is the two week reminder for the deadline. I love all the parts that have come in so far, I can't wait to see what else you guys cook up!

ONE WEEK 'TIL THE DEADLINE

A little over half of the submissions are in and I'm loving all of them. Very excited to get this bad boy out the door

Three days to the dead line- I'm going to be gone the next two days, down to the mainland, so i'm probably not going to be able to check back until Sunday morning.

I'm excited with the level of participation, but it just occurred to me that I'm not friends with a couple of you on Newgrounds- do you still need to do that for co-author credits? It's been a bit

I sent my parts (in a box, to your house).

Doggo sent me his part in the wrong file format, so hopefully he'll get back to me on that this evening. Other than that, we're waiting on Bolt and Phantomcat.

I did some tests. You have the same problem where the audio just cuts out near the end?

Change the audio in the main movieclip (for part 1 and 2 that just means the speech) to event instead of stream, that should work. For the last part you only have to do it for the first part of the duck speech. Everything else can be left on stream and it should work.

If you're converting the files separately, can you do me a favor and set render quality to low in Swivel for my parts?

oh, they ended up working in swivel after all (I helped a tiny bit, hello) I was wondering about that _quality = low

OH SHIT is that why one of the exports I did had gaps in the bitmap? Holy moly you're a flash genius

Post by: GreyClock on October 01, 2019, 03:53:07 AM
Yeah, I always _quality = low because it roughs up the edges and makes it look like mspaint, also bitmaps might not fully connect or whatever and it adds to the charm I feel (if that's what you mean by gaps, unno). Added bonus is that it sorta masks shitty drawing/animating.

Anyway, if it's fixed where's the movie? All I see on the Portal is a bunch of AWFUL SHIT.

Rob finished it and opened a Twitch stream of him typing the final parts of the NG Project into the system but it's 0500 in Canada and he fell asleep while dramatically lowering his finger down to the final click

Me and the rest of the chat thought it was a joke except it's been three hours, now

you can accept the project invite on NG tho

ALSO YES that is what I meant, looks great with "low" quality. I found an irony for the scavenger hunt

Is he still streaming? His face on the keyboard pressing a random key, adding an endless string of Bs to the movie description. Are you sure he's not dead? First man to ever die submitting a Clock Crew flash collab. R.I.P.

I tried this, but it still smooths out all the lines. Bottoming out Swivels render quality basically results in some jpeg style artifacting for the first few seconds, and then it looks the exact same as it did before.

since rob is dead now thor will take everyone’s parts for his collab

he’ll add “rip robclock” at the end for 2 frames, don’t want to be insensitive

except he won’t take robclock’s parts because it is still the no robclocks allowed collab

It's kind of irritating how when you're uploading an MP4 on the submission page there's a progress bar for processing but not for actually uploading it. I hope they add that when the project system gets updated to the new site layout but I somehow doubt it.

Browsers have ingoing/outgoing windows for that, except they're all super hidden and all in different places in every browser

and the Mac version of Safari had it, but the Windows version did not for the following reasons: ??????
