Ok, long story short, here's what happened.
I went to a Chinese restaurant with a Chinese girl today. Not officially a date, since we just met each other recently. Chinese new year was about a week ago, so she began to tell me things about the new year festivals. The date went great so far, because at least we got a great topic to talk about.
Then, she mentions something about "having good luck in the new year". She took one of the cheap-made chopsticks out, and showed to me. It's that kind one-time-usage wooden chopsticks that you have to split it open first to use. Ok, she then told me:"If you can split this RIGHT in half, you will have good luck this year ^_^".
Well, I admit I don't know much about this damn tradition. I should've read some book before I come. Anyway, I took the chopstick. Without knowing which direction should I split it open, I hold both chopsticks together, left ends of both chopsticks with my left hand, right ends of both chopsticks with my right hand, and "BANG", I ripped it in half and sent couple wooden splinters flying. I gave myself a 9/10 for ripping it apart, but she then looked at me with eyes full-moon open. Then, she said: "Hmm......no, you should split it into two chopsticks, not spliting both chopsticks in half......" Lol, other Chinese people were looking at me too. I feel so stupid.
Well, that date is freaking ruined.

If you had played it off once you realized you had fucked up like it was meant to be a joke, you probably could have gotten away with it, instead of a deer-in-headlights "oh shit! i fucked up i fucked up the date is ruined there's no way she's going to like me now!", because she'll sense that and realize you're just a moron :P.
I can't believe how stupid that is, for all I know you could've made it up, but I lol'ed regardless.
