A few years ago i used to like "Gorillaz", but after discovering a community of fangirls writing gay fan fiction about them, i've gone off them now. Plus they don't have any new material.
What about you guys?
linking park, stopped listening to it when I started listening to the actual lyrics.
When I read the titled I for some reason thought of Gorillaz even though I still like them lol. Then I clicked on the thread and saw it there! :O

QuoteWhy does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today.
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left.
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like to have a voice in the back of my head
It's like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
And watches everything
So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right underneath my skin
IT'S LIKE I'M PARANOID
LOOKIN OVER MY BACK
IT'S LIKE A
WH-WH-WHIRLWIND IN SIDE-A MY HEAD
IT'S LIKE I
CAN'T STOP WHAT I'M HEARIN WITHIN
IT'S LIKE THE FACE INSIDE IS RIGHT
BENEATH MY SKIIIIN
Linkin Park is stupid awesome.
I completely dig their Jay-Z mash-ups.
Even with my completely tasteless omni-adoration of music, I'm completely baffled as to why I
ever listened to Simple Plan.
I realized a little while back that I have like 5 Simple Plan songs from back when they were just coming into the mainstream, and I tried listening to "Perfect" for the first time since like 2002.
I couldn't even believe how awful they are, but they're got 33 plays in my iTunes, so I must have liked them at some point.
edit: completely.

Atreyu, stopped listening because the most recent album was godawful and they went shitty. I still like the old stuff but i can't listen to it because it reminds me of the new album
I actually listened to Metallica when i was like 11 cause i wanted to fit in with a bunch of douchebags who liked Metallica aswell
I dont listen to it anymore but im not saying they suck
AFI - they turned from decent punk to horrible emo :(
the gap band.
Nine Inch Nails when I realised they only have 3 good songs.
Muse because they're really annoying and out there and most of their songs feel the same to me
I used to like Green Day back in Middle School, but then I realised all their songs sound the exact same and their fanbase makes me want to goudge my eyes out.
Mindless self indulgence. I was big into them for about a year and then I went to one of their concerts and realized they're money-hungry assholes like everyone else and their songs aren't really about anything.
Quote from: PaperClipClock;1284795Mindless self indulgence. I was big into them for about a year and then I went to one of their concerts and realized they're money-hungry assholes like everyone else and their songs aren't really about anything.
I started to not like them when they went myspace crazy. Now they're chodes.
MSI and Lost Prophets
v:(v
Korn. They got rich after their first few albums and the music just got stupid.
I generally don't listen to metal much anymore because I'm no longer an angsty teenager.
The Cruxshadows. I used to love this gothy bullshit when I was like 16 but then I saw them perform once while I was on LSD. I couldn't stop laughing at their singer's hair, and I've never been able to take them seriously since. Actually, after the show we came back in my car looking for more acid and I made them all sign my steering wheel while I refused to acknowledge them and tripped face.
Also Metallica. First because of Load and then moreso because of Napster (I don't even listen to their old stuff anymore).
Quote from: RenegadeStarfish;1284828I generally don't listen to metal much anymore because I'm no longer an angsty teenager.
Yeah, I noticed this too. I mostly listen to hiphop, musicals, and old rock now.
You don't have to be angsty and a teenager to like metal. :wiebel:

I'm not saying I never listen to metal anymore but I'm certainly not drawn to the angry riffs and lyrics in the way I used to be. I'd much rather listen to the Beatles. Anyway, nobody's made good metal in years.
limp bizkit - i grew up.
Dragonforce
After I saw them live, I was scarred for life. They were beyond garbage.
Linkin Park.
I just decided one day "You know, I think I'll start listening to good music.
Limp Bizkit.
My balls dropped.
Guns N' Roses.
I dunno, now their music all seems just... corny as hell.
Linkin Park - faggotry
Green Day, got tired of them when I got a real taste of music.
I used to love Mindless Self Indulgence to death, but I started listening to them less and less until I stopped completely.
The Beatles - when I realized most of their songs are over rated and about stupid shit.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, they're not completely awful, but I don't like Anthony Kedis' voice and I
really don't like his lyrics.
Quote from: Moose Clock;1285059The Beatles - when I realized most of their songs are over rated and about stupid shit.

Same thing happened to me from 13-14ish. Although I'm pretty sure I consciously decided somehow in my stupid brain to HATE them solely because they were so legendary and I felt some imaginary obligation to like them. "GUESS WHAT," said stupid me, "I DON'T
HAVE TO LIKE THEM - IN FACT - I...
HATE THEM ."
There was a phase where I dwelled on videogame and anime music. No regrettable band choices though :d
Blink 182-I just kinda grew up and I couldn't really relate to the songs anymore.
It's a shame with me liking The Beatles, because mine was more that I loved The Beatles but had absolutely no music by them but two songs until a year ago or so when my good friend Leo got me With The Beatles, and two weeks ago I found every song by them ever on the computer, so now I can listen to The Beatles, who remain amazing :)
Linkin Park when everyone began o relate the emos with it directly.
Louie DeVito , not a band but I stopped listening to him because he began to do the same fucking potpourri everytime with different flavors, it was dull.
Green Day when American Idiot appeared. It was ironic the first album I got was Bullet in a Bible in christmas eve. St least it has a nice interpretation of Good Riddance.
Panda (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panda_%28banda%29) is a local band, it was all good but inmediatly became from classic punk to cookiecutter comercial shit punk.
Limp Bizkit, Fred got apeshit about Britney and then simply stopped being cool.
Gorillaz because... I dunno I got a bit tired of their songs but some seasons I am in the mood of it. So I didnt totally stopped liking them.
MSI has turned into a bunch of whores. GIVE US YO MONEY, and they kicked out Jhonen Vasquez for the album art because the shitty blood splatter cover will supposedly sell better at walmart and hot topic, and now that the fanbase has been infested with 14 year old my chemistry romans emo fucks, ugh. never in a million years did I expect a band like them to literally sell out. It's mind boggling. I still love their music though, mark david chapman is the most clever song they've ever written.
Good Charlotte. I own three of their albums. Their lyrics are like the poems emo 13 year olds write on their shoes. I can't believe I used to like this band, they have no talent whatsoever.
Plus a lot of stuff people have already mentioned. Linkin Park etc

Freezepop-i got into metal. and then i figured out there music wasnt real. :0
Slipknot-i like there old stuff, but there new stuff is not like them. i miss the old grindy lyrics and the out of tune bass and guitars. but now there all gay.

EDIT
QuoteLadies and Gents,
As you may have read in a previous post of mine, Mindless Self Indulgence asked me to do some artwork for their upcoming album, which I now know is named "IF", and I went ahead and did so after a frantic race against the deadline. From what I can tell, my artwork won't be what you get in the standard versions of the release, and will instead be part of a "deluxe", limited edition, meaning once they've sold them that's that,
I said , in that previous post, that I hoped the album was good so that people thought of my artwork when they heard the music as part of the overall impression of the album, but now I guess the album just has to be good enough to go with the crinkly paper and typewriter font that my work has been replaced by.
Seems a bit on the generic side to me, but I guess it'll go over better at the Wal-Marts and the Best Buys.
In other news, I am doing something potentially mind-shatteringly cool. Neat, huh? And you won't have to shell out more bucks for a deluxe version of mind shattering to get it.
JV
Quote from: China Clock;1285152Please link the story about this, because I hope you're lying. :/
The Jhonen Vasquez art is the cover for the "limited edition" release of the album. The regular copies are a crinkly paper one with a photoshopped bloodstain.
Behold.Vasquez was slightly dejected at this, which is enough to drive most of his fans to murder.

I used to listen to Thursday. Then War All The Time came out and it sucked, and it sort of got to the point where I couldn't ignore the little annoying things I hated about some of their other songs...
I haven't listened to them for a while. There are probably some redeeming qualities or whatever, but ultimately I guess I'm just not that into the genre anymore.
I bought a Cursive album once, and it's still on my playlist, but Cursive is kind of easy to get sick of, some songs more than others.
Ugh, I wish that most of the reasons here actually have something to do with the actual music
I used to be a huge nu-metal fan, then I discovered the Beatles, which blew me out of my mind than any other of those bands

Some of you guys are mentioning stuff I really love :C (Gorillaz, Muse, Metallica)
I'd have to say for myself, Linkin Park. Definitely Linkin Park
Insane Clown Posse- Back when I was a I'm a edgy teen middle schooler I found their lyrics to be intentionally hilarious, then I went through puberty and came to my senses that their lyrics were UNINTENTIONALLY hilarious and music was complete crap. I ended up taping the ICP albums I had to the tires of my truck and went for a ride.
P.S.- I never EVER had any desire to become a juggalo even I liked ICP, because the juggalos at my school were completly batshit insane, plus they were total redneck dickheads.
Limp Bizkit- Same as ICP except I thought their lyrics were "HARDKORE and KOOL!!"
System of a Down- I found Daron's whining singing on their last two albums (their two worst in my opinion) to ruin those albums completely for me. Plus, I've realised that they've ripped off Mr. Bungle on some of their songs. I still listen to them on occasion and still like them, however I understand why people hate them and I don't find them to be the best band ever as I used to think after listening to Toxicity back when it first came out.

Well if you hate daron you might like Serj's solo album, no daron at all. It's pretty different stylistically but I thought it was alright.
Aphex Twin and IDM in general.
I still to this day have no idea why I loved IDM for so long, one day I was listening to the album "Drukqs" and realised that it was shit.

Wow. I hate a lot of the bands you guys mentioned. :<
I obviously got off my ass and got real music once I realized I was listening, of all the god awful things, to Linkin' Park and System of a Down.
Linkin' Park be cause I realized the lyrics were fucking horrible.
System of a Down because realistically he knows the current notes:
Yelling
Whispering
Choking

Eminem- The album the marshall mathers LP was pretty good on the account that eminem was such a wigger, especially because even though his songs were just focusing about how much he didnt give a fuck, his vulgarness was actually a message on how society had failed him and so many people like him, and that it caused him to be someone that society wouldn't accept, it was also giving alot of cryptic political significance
After the marshall mathers LP, the songs eventually detorirated into stupid rambling about how poor he used to be, and custody of his child, and the songs that werent about his child were about as lyrically directed as an msi song.
