Title: SAT Scores have expiration dates?
Post by: LuigiClock on April 22, 2008, 04:48:23 PM
So I went to register for my summer classes today, and my academic advisor (who seems to be a fucking idiot at that...) tells me "You cannot register until you take the College Placement Test, which will " which of course I think is complete bullshit. So basically that score I had (1350), my GPA (3.92) mean utter shit at this point because "The score expires 5 years from your examination..." and your grades "are not something that can measure your aptitude..."

So I am thinking about going in to take the test blind on thursday and see how I do, if I get a perfect score, then I will go back to the same advisor and call him a terrorist (He's Islamic, but I wanna piss off the piece of shit for not knowing how to do his fucking job right and talking down to me as if I am lower than him.) and blame all of our countries problems, the war in Iraq, the troubles in Israel, and the Jewish eating rabbit on him. Of course this sounds like the most ignorant thing to do, but I think its a good way to retaliate on some guy who thinks I'm some kind of mentally deficient person.

Oh and I got a 4.0 this last semester from 5 classes, so he can most definitely... Eat a Dick.

Thats a slightly below average score, and your GPA actually doean't mean much to a college because they look at classes.

This was before they added the third part, Math and English only, I had an 800 in english (Perfect score) and a 650 in math (meh, i hate math)

I can list all of my classes completed if you like, the standard english and math classes have been completed by the way with a GPA of 3.79 in Math classes (total of 4) and a GPA of 4.0 in my english and lit classes (The advisement sheet has all your credits listed and broken down hrough sectional GPAs

I think an 1180 is good enough to pass that type of test here.  Fuck those expiring SATs!

You always have to take CPTs regardless of the tests you've taken to get into college. Those tests are just to gauge which 101 classes you should take the first year or two before specializing into your major.

Math, sci., soc. sci., english, language, stuff like that.

Like how you're probably not going to take Calculus 101 if you did calc in high school, so you go on to Trig.

But thats the thing, I already completed the basic english and math classes ( ENC1101, MAC1107 and so forth) so why would I need to retake a test that the SATs should be counted for? Also I have been in college for the last 4 years, I just have changed my major last year around fall, but all credits applied towards my previous degree have been applied to this one.

Oh. I keep getting acclimated to the idea that most of us are in high school still.
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense to me.

I'M SORRY BUT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA HAS EXPIRED, PLEASE GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN.

ps: I think SAT's can only be used for 5 years, so yea, taking another one is probably a good idea.

I had a dream like that once, but me and a few friends did it in new zealand and we had Zinedane Zidane as our french teacher. Not only was the dream vivid, I actually woke up learning a little french!

hardcore dude; you're awesome

also it might've been a typo but then again you didn't get a perfect score in math - 800+650=1450

Whoa, thanks for catching that.

Also I feel bad for everyone taking the test now, you have 3 sections now rather than 2.

yeah when i took the SAT in the spring of my junior year it was the first run of the test that had the writing section, so we were pretty much the guinea pigs for that.  i remember the whole section being put together really badly when i took it, but maybe they've improved it since then.

i only think this year colleges have started considering the total aggregate score from the three parts instead of just the two main parts since there's now enough data to go off of, though
