Quote from: Some websiteWow, that is so interesting. I used to have a very similar experience when I was young. Like you, I would hear a loud screaming in my head or an intense buzzing/ringing sound. Time would feel like it slowed down and my movements, even the slightest ones, would feel incredibly fast and disorienting. The voice of my mom talking to me would sound impossibly far away though she was only across the room. My body would feel like it was shrinking down to a tiny size, yet I could look down and see that my arms and feet were still normal.
This was not a common occurrence. It happened probably once every month or so when I was 4-10 years old. Each time, it only lasted a minute or less. Although, I do remember that when it would happen, another "episode" would usually follow shortly the next day or so.
I think I eventually grew out of it. I haven't totally experienced it in over a decade. I'm 22 now. Very rarely, I'll experience it again, but very very slightly. But it will be enough to bring back the memories that I had when I was younger.
I googled around trying to find something that would explain these symptoms and the best fit is Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. I read online a few years back that there is an unexplained high percentage of children from Taiwan that suffer from Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. I was born in Taiwan, so maybe I did indeed have AIWS. It sounds crazy as hell, but who knows?
Quote from: Same siteWow, I've never found anyone else who has experienced this. The extreme fear feelings started when I was a young child maybe 8 or 9 and occurred usually when I had a very heavy fever and was hallucinating, but there were these times when I would feel "crushed", and there was a very large object making its way towards me.
So I've been getting pretty much exactly what these people have been describing over the last month or two. Like them, it used to happen when I was younger. It usually happened when I had a fever, or if I can remember right, during thunderstorms when I was scared and stuff.
It hadn't happened for YEARS and then suddenly it started again and I knew straight away it was the same thing that happened when I was younger. I think it started again when I became ill a month(ish) ago. I had a huge fever and was just pretty much fucked. I woke up a few nights and my bed was drenched. Like someone had gotten a glass of water and poured it on my mattress. My whole body was wet. Even my shins and shit were covered in sweat.
Anyway, it's been happening on and off since then, maybe two or three times a week. It's really weird and it feels like I'm sort of, outside my body and can't control how fast I am moving. Like the 1st quote said, all my movements seem really fast and hard, even though I know they aren't.
I haven't had anyone close to me die or anything like that, and the screams aren't caused by trauma or anything, possibly stress? But nothing really serious or painful for me.
So yeah, I do the smartest thing I can think of, and turn to the Clock Crew for help/stories.
Anyone else had any similar experiences?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Holy shit.
That EXACT same thing has been happening to me for the past 2 years.
Sweet! Let's set on a quest dude!
I guess there's nothing you can do but wait it out when it happens man..
It may drive you pretty crazy while it's happening but it does eventually go away. My last one lasted for like 6 hours and that shit hurt.
Whoa. That'd be really bad. Mine don't usually last for too long. 10 minutes max. The more you think about them when you have them, the longer they last. If you just do something completely different, they go away. The other day, I got it at school during a test. I was about to fucking scream and run to the school psychiatrist lol. But instead, I kept writing and it went away. :)
It seems like the voices are like, narrating me aswell. So as well as screaming shit, they are screaming what I am thinking. This happen too?
Maybe there is some way to make it go away when it happens, though.
For some reason I feel like it's in my head but it really feels like its something surrounding me, like the air is just filled with that noise. Like everyone in the whole world is hearing that noise loud and clear. For me it's sort of like a whistling sound, but not really like a whistling sound :/ I can't explain it.. You can see me walking around going "Do you guys hear that?" when it happens and people thinking I'm going crazy.
Last time, when I covered my ears it went away, then when I uncovered them it came back full force like it was something just gushing out of my head. It would be nice if there was a medical cure. I'd love to stop it when it happens.
EDIT: For me it only happens once every several or few months.
i'm schizophrenic so i hear voices 24/7
What you are describing sounds like mild night terrors... You do not have to be asleep to have them.
I've had many, many night terrors that are very similar to what you describe... Only they were typically coupled with hallucinations (thought not always).
If your brain is overheated, or you are dehydrated it can cause these symptoms... Drink cold water whenever you feel disorientated, and it will pass in time. The more you drink, the less likely you are to have these symptoms outside of other illnesses.
Also... if this doesn't help, you need to see a doctor. There could be many very BAD things that can cause this, such as tumors. So it can't hurt to get a doctor's opinion. You might just need some meds...
Also, you want to make sure that whatever caused the fever didn't do any major brain damage (that can happen). Think of your brain as a CPU... If it overheats, some of the pathways can literally get fried. This is why fevers can be deadly, it's like over-clocking your brain without adequate cooling... When you sweat that badly, your body dehydrates which worsens the condition...
So, drink lots of water... 6 bottles a day... No, I'm not kidding. It works for me.
The top one sounds like either a huge head rush or night terrors.
I had it. I'm not sure if i still do, though. It was only usually one prelonged word like "Beeeeennnnn..." when i was alone in a room. :(
sounds kind of like a seizure
BUTTERFLYEFFECT ANYONE?

I know how to induce this effect... I used to do it on purpose, but I don't see what use it is... aside from waking up in strange places.
Sounds to me to be either a night terror, or a case of Alice In Wonderland. The feeling of shrinking.
I can get both when I'm in a huge crowed of people, and having a panic attack, there is nothing I can do but wait it out. I usually have no head whats going on, and everything feels distant. Like Topcat said, it feels sorta like a really bad head rush.
At least mine are induced by something, and don't just happen, but that does not make them any less of a pain. :(
I used to hallucinate like fucking crazy and see all sorts of fucked up shit but I'm not to tell you guys that.
Wait I just did. Fuck.
Flashing... Liii... Liii... Liiights
That sounds awful! Like it was said earlier, you should see a docter. Jeez, I can't imagine that.
Something like this happened before. I woke up on hot sweaty night, I was awake and all that jazz, but I could see this image. It really wasn't seeing it as it was thinking it, while seeing it. It was a metal ball roving around a series of metal pipes, moving faster and faster. I loss all sense of idenity, and couldn't figure what was going on. A few seconds later, I came to again, and went to the sink for a glass of water.
weird rite
