Above: My earnest attempts at life drawing before I discovered Mark's philosophy.
In this article (http://sevencamels.blogspot.com/2007/07/secret-to-practically-everything-well.html) Mark Kennedy explains his philosophy on drawing from life. Why is it so difficult? Because we insist on doing it counter-intuitively:
Quote from: Mark KennedyThat's why my sketchbook drawings work when they do: I am filling in the gaps in my memory, using design to make choices instead of trying to remember exactly what I saw.
Albert Einstein said "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." I think of that quote all the time while drawing (at least the first, more famous part of that quote) because in drawing it is always important to remember that design is more important than knowledge.
Be sure to read
the entire article to get a better grip of what Mark is saying. Hopefully it will help some Clocks to think of drawing in a way which benefits their future animations.
most art teachers i''ve had have insisted on first learning how to look at things
ittis good advoce
Now that i know how to draw, how do i ANIMATE? I want to make a great first clock crew animation!
