You'd figure the corpse would start to smell after a while, I thought rotting corpses were among the most smelly things on earth.

Maybe the circumstances caused her body to stay intact. Maybe she mummified instead of decomposing.

you think that if a woman went missing, one of the first things someone would do is check the apartment to see if she was there...sounds a bit fishy to me.

How can you go missing? It's not like go out and say "lets go missing". How can you go missing if you can't stop missing you just turn up?
