All right making a thread already as the release date is coming closer and closer.
I inmediatly fell in love with the series on the GBA debut in 2002. Amazing sprite animations, beautiful armors, catchy characters, cool weapons, impressive music quality and a very good atmosphere. Since the 3D versions appeared in 2005 they werent so much eye catchy as before but still great none the less.
ANYWAY MOVING TO THE MAIN TOPIC
The scans of the remake of the very first saga, *ahem* Marth's saga, coming for DS appeared last year and as you can see below hell yeah.
Some graphic improvement on the maps, the statuscan be seen on the top screen, so far so good also the sprites look a bit more detailed.

However there are some details that are beginning to worry me...
First, there is some... oh god... timer?!
(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blogsmithmedia.com%2Fwww.dsfanboy.com%2Fmedia%2F2008%2F06%2Ftimelimitfe_cs_0611.jpg&hash=15e06dd13a27bd9ae0bffee61c3519065980e77b)
You have to rush your fucking strategies under a timer!? Hell I hope not, it may add more challenge but it would only frustrate me more.
Another one is a reason why I loved the series at first...
The battle sprites.
Look at this.
(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blogsmithmedia.com%2Fwww.dsfanboy.com%2Fmedia%2F2008%2F06%2Ffireemblemfug_cs_0628.jpg&hash=9525fdf22bcb5ed4a205e4ddc2a125a661dcedb7)
They got some black outline but asides they completely blurred out their faces for "high definition", every thing but the fighters look incredible so far, lets compare it with a GBA battle
(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rpgclassics.com%2Fshrines%2Fgba%2Ffe7%2Fimage%2Farena2.gif&hash=f83766ce708a1b322cf5041c1c43d9ec375f897f)
Yeah that's what I am talking about, the characters fit more with he scene, their details are much more notable and you can even see their eyes. I really hope they do not make them look like crash dummies in the DS.
However this still can't be proven it will look lame unless I see a sneak video soon, all I can say is I really can't wait for this release.
Releasing in Japan in August 7th.
PS: Oh, I almost forgot, this one is confirmed for Wi-Fi connection. Hell. Yes.
I've heard this is a strategy game, is it like a Medieval Advance Wars?
Quote from: Marlix Wright;1348518I've heard this is a strategy game, is it like a Medieval Advance Wars?
I'll make it simple, it is Advance Wars with infatry, cavaliers and fantastic creatures and every unit has a backstory and personality.

So basically Medieval Advance Wars _poogle_
Also I've heard if you lose certain units they're lost forever?
Like there's no factories to create units?

Well unless they cloning technology you could replaceyour soldiers. Yes once you lose units in battle they die like DIE. One of the challenges is to clear the game without losing any unit.
That's why it has a more emotional attachment since is not like "oh oops, slave troop #434 died, oh well" is more like "NOOOOO GARCIA! YOU MUST SAVE YOUR VILLAGE! YOU CANT DIE NOW!!"
Am I to assume there's some sort of healing agent in the game then?
Quote from: Marlix Wright;1348549Am I to assume there's some sort of healing agent in the game then?
Yes. Potions, forts and healing units like clerics and priests.
I love games that have me work with limited resources(which is why I like the pre-deployed AW battles the best), so this sounds fun.

Its a whole puzzle since you have to take your risks carefully taking care for the units' level, health, resistance and class. One example is you have one unit with low health so you got to move your healer near him/her to recover, however in most cases healers can't defend so they are easy targets. Is one of many classic issues you can get while playing.
If you have never tried them, I highly suggest you to find the GBA cart of the one simply called "Fire Emblem" its in my opinion the best so far in the series. Not so hard to find in the used games shelf in GamStop/EBGames

I thought this game was going to be the same thing.
Also I've tried. It's impossible to find in my area.
Here is a video so you get an idea how the game is, of course it has been accelerated like 15% but you can check the strategies and animations.

This is why I save almost every other turn. This game pulls you in by the neck, and you don't leave until your mom does the same. Well, thats the way it was for Wii. But ever boss battle was almost pointless since at the end of the boss, all the items you paid good money for went to waste when you realized that they don't matter anymore when you have to get attached to the new set of heroes during Parts 2 and 3. Actually, I got emotionally attached to the Part 1. Part 2 was a drag (but guy who rode black dragon was pimp.) and I never got past like... Part 3's first mission with the piss ass tigers and their impatient ways.

Sounds much more complex than AW, but sounds good.
ITT: Tequila convinces Marlin to get into Fire Emblem.
Looks awesome, wonder what the WiFi will be like.

Well I was interested in it beforehand, I just wanted to know a bit more.
That's What I love from the Serie, they are in War, they don't blame themselves and put all the place on fire, one thing I can't get is that always, inclusive the legendary weapons (Except Ike's Cheap damage dealer Master Sword), have to broke, man even spell books do that.
I am really waiting for this, I am hooked Since I did my first turn as roy on the Sword of Seals.
And yeah it's pretty sad Saw your Unit's doing their last words with a whole Scene

I think what he means is that your weapons break after a lot of use, including spell books and also you get to see the last words of your units before dying.
Also...Pegasus Knight's are assholes

The right word is wimps. Mercenaries are THE assholes.

Myrmidons...they are fucking annoying , they have poor strength and it's hard for double attack
Yeah, I got Fire Emblem. It's amusing, but I feel like that the rpg elements drag down its strategy element a bit.
So far I like Advance Wars better.
Also, Nils little bard dance is the gayest thing I've ever seen in a video game.
Besides the "male" character Lucius.
but admit that the Final fantasy characters are a lot gayer

hurr hurr taken literally
I would love to a have a Fire Emblem DS game. It's about time. I don't particularly like the look they have on the DS though. Why are they messing with something when it isn't broke? I think the character sprites look better in the GBA game.
I had a Fire Emblem NES rom I played nonstop on my PSP. I like the idea of only having one life for each character. Save often! It makes some moves risky, and you have to take care of your troops. And if you lose some of your troops, you'll have less troops for the next battle, etc etc... there's no way I'd give up a character to advance to the next battle.
Quote from: AvocadoClock;1351449there's no way I'd give up a character to advance to the next battle.
Yeah, I have reseted the gamboy like a billion times
I can't find a save option in Fire Emblem, only a suspend.

Is that an ocean of peanut butter icecream? Awesome.

It does save that way. Also I think it saves every turn so like if you turned it off in a battle you can start in the same turn it was interrupted.

Ahyuk
Still, I find the story a bit ill contrived, nothing different than an average story to me.
Though I guess it doesn't have Advance Wars crippling flaw of making every single game's final battle bloody fucking impossible.
I LOVE FIRE EMBLEM.
I do love this game though. I cannot tell you how much I play this game when I am just bored. I really disliked the Sacred Stones though. My favorite is the GBA one and Fire Emblem 3. I cannot stand Pegasus Knights, Bards, and that stupid Laguz unit implemented in the GC Fire Emblems.
Cannot wait for this damn game.
I just hate having to worry about every unit's health.
The thing I loved about AW was that your units were expendable, so you could use them for traps and pincers and the like if need be.
AFkjadsl;fjsad this game is frustrating. One person dying shouldn't matter in a strategy game aldkf;j;aklsdflkjasd;fjklsda;fk;lasdflkjsda;

NO IKE YOU ARE TOO IMPORANT TO THE STORY BUT NOT REALLY YOU CANT DIE YOU LOSE!
Also it seems as though when they run out of hit points they just get knocked out like this is pokemon or something. If they aren't really dieing on a battlefield it's pretty lame.
Also the support system is pretty easy to abuse when there's a level where you just need to seize something, after every enemy is dead you can just sit around like a lemon until you advance the support level all the way.
Marlix they don't die first half of game
Then the second half they have sad, sad deaths.
yeah in the tutorial levels they are like "oh I just broke a leg, don't worry, maybe months later" but the tehy die once you reach the standard levels.
Actually the thing that makes the Fire Emblem the deal is that when you lose a unit YOU FU*ING LOSE IT...ir ads some reality to the strategy and makes the games a challenge...and I love challenges.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we got a box!

Uhh its ok but kinda bit lame so far, I would love to see Marth and company on it as other titles with the lords in front.
Maybe the cover is only for the Japanese release
11 seconds of mobile cocktease, now that is smooth.

... is it just me or the animation reminds you of Killer Instinct? Ehh I prefer the GBA design of the knights btw.
