I think for my first guitar I'm going to buy a Fender Stratocaster.
I think a Fender Stratocaster is incredibly expensive :\
damn I tried to get a different picture of the les paul but my computer was being all I'm a edgy teen
yeah the fender strat is about 4-500$
I think you subconsciously want the Gibson since the picture is slightly bigger than the Fender.
Well for my first guitar I got a 60 dollar knock-off-brand acoustic that was a sickening shade of blue
That was a few days ago!!
edit: no really get a cheap guitar unless you can find like a $300 electric for $100 on ebay, that'd be pretty sweet

Damn, if I found one that cheap I'd probably buy it. They're at least 900â,¬ over here. Although there's like a billion and one different strat models so yea you might get lucky.

My opinion is that fender's beter than Gibson, thinner neck, anyway.

yeah I'm saving up for it, I need it badly.
If you ever get tired of it, smash it open on my face. I can't think of a better way to die.
Depends on what kinda music you wanna play, though both are pretty versatile. Gibson Les Paul's (my personal preference) generally have a stronger ballsier sound, while Fenders are much brighter sounding. Go to the music store and play them both and see which one you're most comfortable with.
Also, Gibsons and Fenders are way expensive. I would only recommend getting one if you're sure you're gonna stick with playing and not give up after a few months.
purely on looks and awesomeness, gibson is more classy, whereas the stratocaster is more for the energic guitarist who jumps around
if you are going to spend money on a guitar get an accoustic one
imo
Gibson, hands down

I want a more psychedelic sound to play at some hippie fests locally, that's why I'd go for fender-not to mention I love jumping around on stage and shit.
Gibson. But you're pretty lucky if you get a Fender for your first guitar, my first guitar was a shitty Epiphone.
Wait, a couple of secounds ago there were pictures of an actual Fender (off a car) and a picture of Mel Gibson (actor) what in the world happened here!!!!!!.

its called a really shitty parody thread
also yeah I really want to stick with this
get the oversized antisemitic

I'm jewish you fuck
personally Iprefer tboth the sound and shape of the strat and think the shape is more acsessible for a learner. The shape sis also the same reason I wouldn't get an acoustic for my first guitar as they are bulky and the majority of cheap one don;'t have a cut out so you can't reach the higher notes
this is all entirely assuming that you are buying this guitar to learn and don't already know how to play
Look into fender squier guitars.
Try out the Bullet if you can find one. Real good first Guitar for me.
don't waste your money on such an expensive guitar, just get a cheap one then learn to play it, if you don't learn you wouldn't of wasted 600 bucks.
guitar is incredibly time consuming and requires crazy patience.
They have squier starter packs with an amp and guitar for around 120 dollars. Look into that.
Save getting a Gibson for later. They're a solid brand but you'd be best off waiting until you can make it sound good.

well I want a tremelo bar and the cheapest one that comes with it is 400$
I'm fully prepared to put every waking second I'm not working or hanging with friends (maybe even while hanging with them) into learning the guitar. Any tips, because I'll be teaching myself everything.

also this basically defines why I'm in love with the strat
Fuck fender and fuck gibson.
Dean guitars and basses are where its at.

Chords first. Minor and Major, then Barre. Then work with scales, and arpeggios. Then looks up tabs for any songs you want to learn at
//www.ultimate-guitar.com and work it up from the easier ones.

It depends on what you want, really... I have a fender stratocaster and trust me you can't play a better blues without a strat, now, maybe you want to play some stuff like metallica, megadeth, some nice old school trash then you'd have to go with the gibson explorer... not that it's the best guitar out there but for the genre and the capabilites of the guitar it is quite awesome. You gotta look at the model, the pricing, what you wanna play, etc etc etc.
About dean: overpriced stuff. Have you seen the Dimebag models? Fuck that shit I barely know people who can pay for that, it's ridiculous, the sound is fairly decent but you are not getting worth your fucking money. I wouldn't buy dean at all.

HAHAHAH WELL I GUESS THE GIBSON ISN'T YOUR CHOICE THEN AHAHAHA

you can get a psychedelic sound from both of them so either of them would be fine just search for both of them and whichever one you can find cheaper go with that.

Well if I were to get a Gibson, it'd be an SG and I don't think those have tremelo arms like the strats do. I also love the strat's 7.25 neck instead of the Gibson's 9.5.

I payed $150 for my dean metalman V bass
but i bought it off a friend and from what i know gibsons and some fenders are way more expensive than deans.
