Title: Another Charity Function
Post by: FluxCapacitorClock on August 18, 2008, 02:23:17 AM
Let's think up another thing to do for charity, and then actually do it! Let's not let Wade the Cow be our only good for humanity.

Well there's the film restoration, but in my honest opinion I don't think people are too into it.

Thought the film digitization was brilliant, it was just too quiet.

My ideas:

Buy a dedicated UHF television station capable of reaching 250,000 people, $700 dollars.

Full gender-reassignment surgery for Catclock, $35,000

Lets spend 2800 dollars and then we're going somewhere.

That's actually very plausible. The stations would need to be "independent" of eachother so far as location goes, simply because the FCC is allowed to destroy you if you go over 50 Watts without a license. Once you have the equipment to set one station up though, you can reuse the bulk of it to set up more of them dirt cheap. Pricey parts like UHF exciters, harmonic filters, high gain antennas, and dummy loads for tuning can all be made at a fraction of the cost to buy, driving the price even cheaper. So long as everyone could keep pumping content into the things micropower CCTV stations could be mailed all over the world, potentially hitting everyone within a five mile radius of every clock, perhaps more.

That's just my pipe dream though.

Hey man, if I get a job here soon, I'll be sure to start a fund for this.

I heard about a charity that donates water purification systems to places that don't have much in the way of good water, that might be worth looking into.

How about The Yellow Ribbon Fund (http://www.yellowribbonfund.org/), for wounded soldiers?  That's the org. that Stephen Colbert sold his wrist cast for (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/09/03/the-fruits-of-wriststrong_n_62886.html).

We could do it as a gimmick, handing out strawberries and all sorts of fruits with tiny, edible clock on them

Those africans would freak the fuck out

By that logic we should also donate money to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, because everyone here also loves semen.
