Title: Cartoon Network has really gone down the drain.
Post by: poopbutt on September 02, 2008, 08:17:26 PM
With all these new crappy shows have lost all my respect like total drama island and the Ben 10 shows have lost the small respect I had for it what has happened to cartoons?? I miss good shows with yelling and stupidity like Ren and Stimpy? But now CN has lost their minds iwth Star Wars the Clone Wars show. How can a movie that only brought in like 25 million dollars earned a total flop in the box office  become a new T.V show??? Now the only good cartoons left on T.V are Family Guy, The Simpsons and, American Dad.
A penny for your thoughts?

I'd agree that Cartoon Network has gone down the drain but I would disagree that the only good cartoons left on TV are Family Guy, The Simpsons, and American Dad.

Ben 10 is obviously an easy target.

But what about Flapjack, Chowder and the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy? (...however it is going to stop transmitting soon :(, Maxwell Atoms himself stated it)

Also American Dad is ugh.

American Dad is awful, I just don't get how people can actually laugh at that shit. Also I'm guessing that whoever created Total Drama Island is one of those parents who try to act "hip" with their kids.

I pretty much don't watch Cartoon Network anymore.

For me, the only good show on CN in recent times was Codename: Kids Next Door...and it already ended. Too bad they had to fuck it up on the finale, though :( (Galactic KND? What the fuck!?)

Well for cartoons that still get new episodes I mean. Tom and Jerry Pink Panther yada yada yada are kick ass and will live forever I can still watch them on boomarang though.

Well i don't blame you for "hat"ing Flapjack. I approached Flapjack with an uneasy eye, and frankly i see it as one of those weird-ass cartoons that you might have to be on drugs to enjoy.

I actually like some of it, if for the whimsical and child-like humor. The young are enthralled by everything because they are too stupid to know any better.

Also, i thought the KND final episode was actually pretty cool.

And Spongebob was released in 2001. I remember the premiere episode right after the 2001 Kids Choice Awards.

"Right After Kid's Choice!"

If spongebob really did come 15 years ago, i would have fucking grown up with it. You're talking about 1993 here. Reboot wasn't around in 1993, and if there was a good show, it was Reboot.

Those were the days, there was always a new show right after the awards every year. I don't remember what happened to KCA that began to be stupid shit. Wasn't it the hype of awfully bad movies receiving awards?

I mean, sure, they're cartoons for old people, but STILL, the newer generation ought to see what the old school was like.

I get plenty of shows on Boomerang in the day.  I haven't watched it in a while, I think I'm going to devote a day to "research" and sit down and watch all the shows they have on some day to see when they play the good shows.

There's already a KidneyBeanClock. Don't be Bean. Why is Boston associated with beans, anyway?

The Boston Red Sox logo might be neat, though. It's distinctly Bostonian, and is also a big red B, which is something that amuses us Clocks. :p

An object might be better, though. An abstract or entity makes for an iffy Clock.

Well, American Dad is less reliant on gag humour and cutaways, so that makes it a little different. It sometimes seems even less politically stilted than Family Guy, though. :p

This.

It's not just Cartoon Network that is having this problem, Nickolodeon is going through the same thing. The way I see it, TV will never be as good as it was when we were kids. I remember getting up every morning to watch Transformers (when it was still a cartoon and not that stupid anime shit it is now). Then they went to Beast Wars and that was the first time I think I had really seen 3D animation. That and Reboot were awesome shows. However, nothing will ever take their places today.

The CN does have some good shows hanging around though, as mentioned Billy and Mandy, and Flapjack, but don't forget about Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure came out in 1989, and Mike Myers joined Saturday Night Live in 1989, so that's when Wayne's World would have been introduced. They came out roughly around the same time, but one wasn't a ripoff of the other.

But yes, Bill and Ted is ridiculously awesome. I guess BostonClock just naturally dislikes movies with characters that are smarter than him. :(

Dunno if anyone's said this but,

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is the only good cartoon around now that comes to mind.

South Park used to be good but is just awful now. I really can't stand it. Same with Family Guy.

Shame. Cartoon Network did used to have some good cartoons that I like to remember and be all nostalgic about. Dexter's Lab was fun. Even though it kinda did suck, Powerpuff Girls always comes to my mind for some reason. Oh and I used to love Spongebob on Nickelodeon. Good fucking times ;_;
