true blood is a great new hbo series about, you guessed it, vampires! the basic premise of the show is a japanese company has perfected synthetic blood and is marketing it as tru-blood. with no need to feed off humans anymore the vampires decide to out themselves and attempt to gain some basic civil rights. it's very southern gothic so instead of being racist to black people the south is now racist against vampires.
it's an excellent show that is very dark, funny and violent at times. also did i mention it's hbo so there is no lack of colourful language, gratuitous nudity and or graphic violence. check this shit out i'm hooked.

it's handled pretty tastefully and isn't really cliched redneck ¥¥¥¥¥¥ lynching kind of shit, it's very subtle, and the basic premise is vampires are tax paying citizens who demand civil rights. here's the trailer for those interested.

this show is good, not as good as other hbo shows, like the wire, which is the best show of all time.
still it's mad decent, episode 3 aired the other night, i won't drop any spoilers but someone is probably a werewolf.
also sookie's run in with the nest vamps turned out neat and they introduced a vampire specific disease, also plenty of tis, ass, etc.
