Just wondering what the majority use!

I try to avoid using symboly stuff now because they made me lazy for years and I didn't learn anything until I stopped.
Drawn, usually.
I do tween mostly but i'm working on drawn fbf
Drawn, with a few symbols for the more complicated things.
Tweens, shamefacedly.
I like doing frame-by-frame, and I like the idea of frame-by-frame, but I'm so terrible at it.
And, of course, I'm assuming we mean real frame by frame, as in sequential drawings to simulate movement. Not those weird squiggly line cartoons Newgrounds seems so fond of.
You know what drives me crazy is when people draw something in the same position two or three times, then loop it in a movie clip, like some kind of kooky nutty way of pretending that they drew every frame, like anybody's going to fall for that? Newgrounds Survivor (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/84810) was horribly guilty of this.

Blame luis he said it was okay to do that

:oI love fbf, but most of my work is in tweens. I've yet to do any large-scale fbf work...just snippets here and there.

:O
Whats worse is when they use the 'smooth' tool to pull off that effect.... Infact...

I confess. I actually taught the guy how to do that.

Whillickers, did he really?
I've never noticed it in any of Luis' movies, so I never would have thought he'd be one to advocate it.

I might be the only one on the planet that this comes as a shocking and disturbing revelation to.

yes but i fail at embedding
i am trying to get on frame-by-frame flawlessly, but I use tweens for a lot of things, so I can't really pick one.

That's not really what I was talking about. Luis is giving him some actual movement- breathing, and wiggling his fingers. That's kind of like an idle animation in a video game.
I meant when the subject isn't making any movements- the drawing is essentially completely still, but, to simulate it being re-drawn in every frame, the animator redraws it (or just smooths the lines) once or twice, and then loops the two drawings.
To me, it's like, either actually draw it every frame that it's staying still, or don't front like you did. Nobody is going to think less of you just because the drawings stopped moving when the subject stopped moving.
Well, in all five of my movies I've used a total of two tweens, and one of them was for credits.
I like to do complete fbf, it takes much longer but it feels so much more rewarding to finish it, plus every movie released makes me that much better at it.
Animating is fun
tweenz 4 lifeee

Oh.
Well, in that case, yeah.
Really stupid
Frame by frame takes long, and it's dragged out even more by this horrible mouse.
Most FBF work i did was probably a half-second on an unreleased clip I made.

This
Both drawn and symbol depending on what it is i'm animating! Big/quick movements, like running or a fight, I'll draw FBF, but if it's something like raising an arm, i'll FBF the symbol... I only EVER use tweens for scenery or for moving a graphic i've already animated (e.g. a walk cycle). Seriously.
I always used tweens but now I've moved onto drawn fbf, i might start tweening again using masking for 3D animations.
A combination option? I pick and choose the best suitable method for what I want to achieve.
when I use flash i'll probably use a tween yes because that is one the advantages of flash
tween is win
The last real animation I created was paper FBF (It isn't on Newgrounds) But most of my movies are tweened. There isn't anything wrong with tweens, guys.
Usually FBF, but then I'd tween it across...
Two thirds of what I've submitted to Newgrounds was painstakingly animated frame by frame. Except for the couple of seconds in Magic-Shed with the side view of the bicycle. And even then, I didn't tween or use movieclips.
