Haha, ohfuckyes - didn't they make action figures/dolls of the Real Monsters? Doug was also very funny.
This is a good thread.
I think I started growing out of Nickelodeon around 1998 or so. Maybe before that. I only got cable access from my grandma's house, and when she died, I couldn't see it anymore. All I know is that Nick was awesome, and then I only saw it every once in a while, but each time I did it just got crappier and crappier.
I have vague memories of ancient (as in, older than "classic") Nick:

This is Canadian, right? I think I remember seeing it on Canadian TV. Speaking of that...
:tophat: I say this is a good thread.
Rocket Power sucked, so did Rugrats.
Nickelodeon only came to the Netherlands when I was like between 13 and 15 I don't remember exactly why, but Rugrats was on Foxkids which was, I think, a Dutch channel only.
I always found Rugrats ugly and unfunny. Rocket Power had awful voice actors but that may have been the Dutch dub.
I grew up with Cartoon Network and Foxkids, Cartoon Network's best shows included Dexter's Lab, Cow 'n Chicken, the Addams Family (except that this show consisted of 5 episodes being rerun and rerun and rerun again and again and again), and Foxkids was good if you wanted a different show every week because they had no consistency whatsoever.
Angry Beavers is the winner.

In the middle of a shitty teen girl cartoon drama, here was this fucked up 8 year old, recipient of a head wound as an infant, owner of a jarred petrified human eyeball, his childhood enemy's tonsils, and a tooth from the pet monkey of some pussy dipshit in his class. He hung out in a doghouse with his hideous troll of a friend, proposed to an elderly retiree in the second episode, tried to resurrect her as a ghost, and just generally fucked the show up every single episode.
The best thing Klasky Csupo ever made.

Nah, England had Fox Kids as well, although every country has a line-up with different cartoons to each other.
Our Fox kids had shit like Sailor Moon, Digimon, Power rangers and stuff along those lines.
But i've noticed that, going on US cartoon network it has things like the english dubbed Naruto where as Naruto is shown on Jetix (once Fox Kids) here.

Exactly. In my first year of college my roommate was watching that show and I specifically remmeber being disgusted with what had happened to the network; it had changed beyond recognition. And that was either 2001 or 2002. :(
It's pretty clear that
Invader Zim was canceled not because it was bad but simply because it didn't fit with the rest of the programming schedule.
Nick Jnr. is pretty cool, though; I used to watch that while looking after my niece.
Backyardigans is great, and so are the
Wonder Pets. :-3
