I spent a couple of weeks chipping away at a concrete slab of words until this story was revealed...
I was stirred. It feels like Milton sees himself as many parts working together rather than a whole being, and since the lonely bones are also just pieces, he is a lot like them. He reflected on what those pieces did before they were relieved from duty, and related them to his own woes, but then upon further introspection, he realized; pieces are just pieces. They have nothing to do with each other, whether in the body or in nature. Best not dwell on it. The lonely bones did their thing, and that's that.
You should enter my next writing contest if I think up a theme in a timely manner.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for the feedback, Snake! I'm pleased that you connected with the story
I'd love to enter the new contest. Hurry and set a theme!
Holy shit that was good. I have no criticism for you, and there's just too much good stuff to point out. You should consider trying to get that published.
That's quite some praise indeed! Thanks SillyPutty, I feel encouraged.
