Title: Flash CS3 filesize issues
Post by: TruffleClock on September 28, 2008, 02:05:12 PM
So someone wanted to send me a .fla that they made in CS3 and a relatively short, simple movie turned out to be 100mb? He tried removing the sound, tried "save and compact", tried saving in new location. Anyone else have problems like this?

Compressing it as a RAR would be a good place to start. You can generally break them down to about 20MB, seeing as most of the file size is just useless fluff.

Select "generate size report" in the publish settings and publish, copy it into a text editor for readability, and scroll down to the number of shapes and the file sizes for each frame, object, whatever. See what costs the most.

Search "Symbol" to get to the list of size by library item, and "Movie Report" for the size by frame (or just look at the first part of the document).
