I just watched Casino Royale. Good movie, cliffhanger would've pissed me off more had I not waited until the sequel was out.
So now I have to ask, is Quantum of Solace any good?

Casino Royale was an amazing Bond movie in that it's the first Bond movie to actually make me care about the characters and to make them feel human.
I like how he's supposed to be Bond before he learned how to be sophisticated and sexy, when he's the only Bond that doesn't exclaim "MMMHH PUSHAAAYYYY" whenever he sees a woman before raising his eyebrow and skiing or some shit.
The film's been out here for over a week. I haven't seen it yet but I haven't heard good things.

Casino Royale was good, classy, a solid modern action bond.
But it was only good once. More of the same is not good.
Hence why Quantum of Solace was pretty awful. Mindless action and a pretty poor plot.
Just got back from it. Yeah, lots of action, no plot, but I enjoyed it regardless because I like my action.
Also, I was a bit taken aback. James Bond not sleeping with the Bond girl? Unheard of!
Also Jack White (along with Alicia Keys) sang the theme song, which is fucking awesome.
And the intro sequence during the theme song was fucking amazing.

Well I myself was disappointed with Casino Royale...it just seemed to drag on and not have the same Bond feeling that Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery first had. But Quantum of Solace was a major reprisal for me, and Daniel Craig definitely seemed to be a much more action Bond that past bonds. Anyone who thinks it sucks and Casino Royale doesn't just because QoS isn't flooded with shitty gadgets needs to go jump onto a live rail way.
I would complain that the whole shooting screen/blood intro that was so signature was used as the outro instead, but as it's actually there, I won't bitch.

Aye, but people's opinions towards QoS seems to biased towards the gadgets, which is the most I'm a edgy teen thing ever. Then again, those biased reviews probably all came from 13 and under year old teenagers/kids.

After watching QoS at the cinema, I read some reviews on the movie. I personally preferred it to CR, but the reviews all seemed to dislike QoS, and there was a lot of mention of gadgets in most of them...most anyway.

Not all complain about the lack of gadgets, but most do, which is sheer stupidity and lack of overall appreciation of the Ian Fleming series.

Who said anything about gadgets? QoS sucks because the story was stupid. Craig did a good job acting but the story seemed to have no real premise and shit was just happening.
Well, I didn't say EVERYone hated it for those gadget related topics, but a lot of people were for that reason, which is moronic. If you dislike it for any other reasons that's cool.

I liked the movie, personally. The choice to keep Bond a lot less subtle with less gadgets is well justified, in my opinion. Quantam of Solace takes place right after Casino Royale, which is when Bond becomes a 00 agent. So naturally he's not going to be fully developed yet according to the timeline.
I enjoyed the action of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and I like the realistic nature of the movies. I just could've done with a lot more plot in QoS.
Still enjoyable.

craig is also exhibiting james bond's signature ability to walk into a room and have everything blow up except himself.
it wasn't nearly as well-directed as Casino Royale was, but it was OK. a C+, I feel, to Royale's A-.
bond forgiving vesper wasn't nearly so moving as it should have been, considering it was the biggest characterization theme in the movie (trumping trust and vengeance by a length.) the shooting the camera thing felt really silly and tacked on. if that was meant to signify another change toward the suave, sophisticated bond of old; another step in the early evolution of the character, theeyyyyy fucked up. it just wasn't well delivered.
no slight on marc forster, but bond is not his forté. I found myself idly wishing Martin Campbell had reprised.
still waiting for a craig bond main theme to feature the characteristic sweeping orchestral sounds and powerful female vocal lead of Goldfinger, TWINE, etc. this millennial top 40 shit is not going to cut it for very much longer.

The reason why the Craig Bond is less like the other Bonds is that it's the start of the series. Quantam of Solace is near the beginning of the timeline. He hasn't developed as a character yet.
