I'm not upgrading just yet. It's annoying enought that I regularly forgot to save my InDesign files as "interchange documents" and can't open them at school (Everything cs2 except for Flash which is still mx2004 what). I can't imagine compatibility will be better with CS4.

Are there any major changes to the interface/any good new features you found? Did they implement "bones"?

CS4 really worth upgrading? Was it like CS3 was to CS2?

I must say i am not commercially upgrading so to speak.

i only played with flash for like 15 minutes, but the overall look is good. Some minor changes to the interface and stuff. The bones seems to work nicely, and the tweening  is changed althogether.
they borowed some stuff from after effects, the motion editor.
Als 3d ftw!!!

I guess it'll take some time getting used to, but it has some cool shit worth a shot.

Any increase in performance or startup time? That's what CS3 was mostly about.

Also, new effects and 3d doesn't iterenest me much. That's for newbs who need those kind of things to animate. Even so, such effects look bad for animations imo.

yeah, its pretty solid if you ask me, also this version includes better options for including and editing text. It also features much better hardware acceleration, wich is pretty nifty is you ask me.

Seeing that flash has become and is much more than just a tool for animation, you cant escape these effects. Of course its a matter of taste, but i think its the same as with gradients: Handle and impelement with care and dont overdo it.

photoshop Cs4 is the same as CS others and flash CS4 is changed alot I guess. allthoug I find the 3d function totally useless and the bones are nice but not really necesairy for me anyways.
thats just me. yes I still use flash 8 aswell. I just sue CS3 and 4 at school

making a tween in CS3 or lower involved clicking four times (right-click, keyframe, right-click, motion tween).
making a tween in CS4 involves clicking about 10 times. I don't know what exactly has to be done, but it's annoying as hell.

Taking Adobe's upgrade scheme into mind, it'll probably be 5 years before there's any actual point in upgrading.

CS3 was that update. So I don't plan in upgrading to CS4 yet.

The extent to which PS6 remains competent makes it difficult to rationalise the number of upgrades made to it in such a small timespan.

what is the reason the clockcrew still uses flash7. I mean, you dont write essays in notepad anymore. Plus most people here are starving poor, only 3 or 4 clocks actually have a normal version so to speak.

Ik know you are gonna say the updates are shit, and not worth upgrading. But if you never upgrade, then youll be stuck in the stone age forever, all the "minor" updates combined can be big!
Im not saying if thats a bad thing per say, if mean if you feel that the software is cabable of doing what you want the way you want there's no need for more. But if you wanna keep on the top of your game and have the chance to do so, why not?

Actually, I'm Dling the CS4 Suite, as I Remembered there are certain other things that I will find useful in Photoshop and Bridge. I was just being lazy before.

But it's not the programs that make up a good animation, it's the animator itself. Most good animations will be made frame by frame, which wont' really benefit from the new features, but they do sure look handy for other tasks.

Automatic Key frames for tweens

Automatic motion path (no guide layers needed)

Motion paths transformable and mobile

3D rotation with tween support

3D Z space (into/out of the screen) with tweens

Tweens easily proportioned to time line (changing animation speed)

Each property (size, filters, 2D and 3D movement) has its own easing graph

Motion Presets (custom easing presets)

Skeleton for movieclip or SHAPE (Really awesome!!!)

Super easy color scheme creation

I've decided to try Flash CS4 for the thirty days, but I'm not downloading the rest just yet.

Edit - oh way to go adobe, a fucking download manager. As if having EA's piece of shit on my computer wasn't bad enough. You know what? Go fuck yourself, Adobe, I'll pirate your software so I won't have to deal with your shit. Like the fucking account, I only use it when I upgrade my creative suite. That's once every year or so. Of course I keep forgetting the fucking password. Faggots.

Firstly, sorry for bumping this thread.
Secondly, I just installed CS4 and it looks a lot better aesthetically, the new layout was pretty confusing at first but I changed the workspace to classic and that solved the problem. The new features are really cool but not really needed and for those of you that don' know AS3 be careful because to use these new features you have to be using AS3, this also makes backwards compatibility harder than it already is. The new motion tween system can be confusing but you can really control it so much easier with the motion guides always in the tween, and for those of you that need the old system you can select classic tweens.
Not really worth the upgrade if you are going to be paying for it, but the 3D and bones features are really fun, however if you plan on using them in movies time to learn AS3.

You guys understand that story telling isn't why flash sells right?
