I am a Street Fighter 2 guy myself. I just love the music and backgrounds, some of the characters are awesome (Blanka, Zangeif, Dhalsim, M.Bison are some of my favorites) and while Mortal Kombats characters hold much more weight as being iconic video game characters, I see Street Fighter 2 just being a more significant game. Its fast and furious and I love it.

I like SF more for having a bit more class. MK is fun too but because its too silly.

When these games came out I was maybe 7 at the most. I liked Mortal Kombat because it was more interesting to look at. Street Fighter might have been more technical, but I didn't learn to throw a shoryuken until I was like 12, and Kano's motherfucking heart rip was just back back low-punch, and the debug code was down up left left a right down. DULLARD. easy.
haven't really thought about Mortal Kombat much recently, but I do play a mean game of Championship Edition now that I'm older and wiser.

Mortal Kombat for suree, I never liked Street Fighter's floaty controls and the fact that I could never figure out any of the moves and pretty much resorted myself to turned away from the machine and holding down right and mashing the buttons >w<

I prefer Street Fighter 2 Turbo over Mortal Kombat. However, I think Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is better than Turbo.
