My only point was, Im bitter about a movie winning that I could give two shits about. I believe that there where three other movies far more deserving and those movies were wall-e, Milk, and Frost/nixon. Mostly, im bitter for sitting through no country for old men when I had no inclination to watch it until it won the oscar. I then proceeded to watch it, found it depressing, and scratched my head at the ending before finally understanding it after watching it the third time.

That's another culture entirely. Although they might find it enjoyable, neither of us can presume to say how they feel about it. In any case, they almost definitely aren't fishing for recreation. People in Miramichi fish and hunt for recreation. They often do cook what they kill, and they sometimes sell it, but I'd hardly say that it's their main source of food and/or income.

Oh, I'm not saying that all people who have fished for sport are white trash. I myself have been dragged along on fishing trips with my stepfather. What I mean is that a lot of people there have almost a bizarre obsession with fishing. They fish wading in the middle of rivers and streams, regardless of the weather.This can be a thoroughly miserable experience at times. They do this almost every day. For fun.

EDIT: Also, I agree that white trash is a much better term. Miramichiers are white trash. Everybody is happy now.

but yeah slumdog millionaire is fucking incredible and by far the best movie of the year if not the best of the past 5.  it was most certainly not chosen due to nobody seeing or hearing of it, because quite frankly i'd heard about it probably 6 months ago, maybe more and have seen countless commercials for it since then, it was chosen because it is an expertly crafted cinematic MASTERPIECE that takes you through a wide range of emotions, all of which are legitimate and not forced at all, it is without a doubt one of the most powerful tales of struggle, love, brotherhood, trust, destiny and hope we have seen in recent times, it deserved the oscar entirely and anyone who disagrees is a fool and doesn't deserve to watch movies that have titles which don't end with MOVIE, so fuck you nintendo you fucking piece of shit, enjoy meet the spartans or whatever fucking tyler perry movie you think is so much superiour, i'll be watching art and being moved to my core. fuck you so much, fuck you repeatedly, fuck you with a rubber fuck you to death fuck you.

You lived in a small town with a population of 10,000+ whose economy base has been founded on Canadian lumber jacks and the Miramichi river itself. By no means does any of that fulfill the definition, even the modern term, of a redneck.

It does however explain the need for rootsy get-togethers and the habitual drug usage. With a small population and a vast distance between towns and Cities: people will still find entertainment.
