what do you guys think of the car i TRACED for use in my next animation. its better to trace than to draw a nasty piece of shit.
tracing aside how dose it look? its not 100% done yet :)

It looks like a traced car.
The colours are really bright and hard on the eyes, too. Use softer colours and consider the reflective values of the surfaces.

i know its a traced car. but does it look good? i will use softer colors and can you tell me how to use reflective values?
Quote from: Golden Clock;1540256It has potential. Instead of using solid red, try to get some slight gradients in. Nothing exteme, but make the car look a bit shinier.
Make the underside behind the wheels darker too
Green probably isn't a good color for the seats
get rid of the lines
i really think the lines are okay right now but how do i use the gradients? thats what i asked a second ago
The lines are way too thick, and the solid red throughout the car doesn't look right, and of course change the seats. Also the lines in the headlights look strange.
Otherwise it looks like a traced car.
traced car
You should be TracedClock
Quote from: Golden Clock;1540264I don't know, the lines are what gives it away as traced methinks
HOW DO I USE GRADIENTS!?! that was my question lol line or not it will be a traced car like i said better a traced car in an animation than a poorly drawn car.
some instruction on gradients would be greatly helpful I've worked out the side view of the car and I'm starting the frontal view now.
If you are going to trace it should be perfect.
This is anything but perfect.

yes because you draw your own cars from scratch fucknut.
your really just someone who's out there to make people feel like shit. i trace designs for 2 fucking avatars and you can't let it die?
dude make yourself feel better by picking on someone else. when you draw your own fucking car design and it looks nice talk to me then buttplug.

you can't justify tracing, so stop

i think it's fairly good. again i need help with gradients.
This looks traced.

go on youtube and look at some flash gradient tutorials. If you do not take this advice, I hope you keep bitching to everyone about how good you think it looks, even though it doesn't, and then you realise how much of an idiot you sound like, and then gtfo.
okay i am going to rework it and do it better perhaps modify it. ive learned gradients. hopefully it will look better.
Consider where the sun is coming from, then make areas nearest the sun (also in perspective) bright and places the sun cannot get to darker.

teh.... tht lo0ks traceD dawg....................
You know, you ask for our opinions, then get all huffy about them if they're not kissing your ass? Bad juju.
What else can I say about it? You don't know how to shade. You don't know how to use different line weights. Your colouring is garish. Your headlights look like chewed-up pieces of gum. You don't need to trace a car to draw a half-decent car, in fact that probably helps.
Think what you will, I'm just trying to help.
Why don't you just take pages from coloring books and import them into flash? Then you won't have to do all that hard drawing stuff.
Quote from: Candlejack;1540233its better to trace than to draw a nasty piece of shit.
No it isn't, and here's why. When you draw something crappily even though you attempted to draw it well, you at least have the practice and experience drawing it. You work your crappy method down to where you know what you're doing, even though it's bad, so that when you find out that something is not like the way you draw it you can alter your method to account for this. For example, you try and draw a cylinder as two bent lines at the end of a rectangle, then you study a cylinder and realize that it's edges are more like ellipses cut off at where the outline of the ends merge with those of the sides. So, you can correct this and your drawings will be more realistic and you will have improved. You can't be good from the start, you have to work at it. When you trace, you never work at it, and so you never become good. You're condemning yourself to trace forever.
Just because it will be bad at first doesn't mean you should be ashamed of it, least of all ashamed to show it to us. The more you show us, the more we can show you how you need to improve, and so you can learn from our experience.
Also, gradients are a crutch, and you should only use them once you know how to draw the same thing without them. Reflective objects are ones where less light is absorbed. That means that when it gets hit by light from, say, the sun, almost all of what hits it will be bounced off, so that it can hit your eyes. It still absorbs a little, though, so that a medium amount of light will show a more tinted version of the object's natural color, and then in low light the object will be mostly it's natural color.

Notice how it is almost white at the points where light hits it full-force, then gray (the car's natural color) around where it's partially in shade. Around the rims, the metal curves out, and the rims are exposed to the sun, where if flat they would be hidden by the rest of the car. By contrast with a reflective material, you have a less reflective material. These are everyday things like cloth. These materials absorb more light that hits them, so in full light they tend to be more like light versions of their natural colors (like a vibrant red), and in low light a dark version of their natural colors (dark red). In very bright light, they, too, will be the color of the light source, but it takes more light to do this to a diffuse material than a more reflective one. Notice how the tires receive about the same amount of light as the body, but only small sections of it respond as strongly as the car to the light source. That's because rubber is less reflective than car paint. Also, since the objects around them are reflective, they will bound their colors onto the object as light, and so highly reflective materials, like mirrors, will reflect the image of the objects around them.
:this: Drawing every single little seam on the car with a heavy black line and then burying it in bright red isn't quite the same as this. This is probably beyond ModdedPC's ideas of "tracing".
hey here is my new one its not a straight trace a lot of personal touches where put into this car... i actually worked hard on this... its nothing compared to Golden's Oldsmobile but i think this looks a lot better...(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi44.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff10%2FKyuubiT%2Fbettercar.jpg&hash=d86356792e20c4bc4afe2701b283b0146db6fe19)

Looks a bit flat. Needs some shading.

got any ideas to where exactly?
I went from this(https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi44.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff10%2FKyuubiT%2FSBCCAR.gif&hash=525585566adab5d2876e351e736c0ca61b0eaeab)to what you see above... I'm not asking anyone to say the one on top is great just see there is a lot of improvement.

uhh
Add racing stripes!
..and an antenna
and spikes coming out of the wheels
actually, yeah, the second one is a lot better. now just add everything I said and you're set.

racing stripes... hmmm i like that. the antenna is good... but spikes really?
well jeeze, if you wanna be a girl about it, then I guess we don't need spikes.
But good luck drag racing without them!

if you're posting your art just for compliments then you're not going to learn anything

Much better. I like the hood scoop. The air intake in the bumper looks weird, though, like it fans out. That doesn't look right.

Do you know anything about light sources?

Might want to take a refresher if you don't know where shading goes.
