Title: Question for a musician
Post by: CrustClock on March 27, 2009, 05:16:11 PM
Sorry for hogging space on this board for my own selfish ends, but this has been bugging me:

What is the time signature of repetitve, 'BA da da da da da da da BA da da da da da da da', piano part? I think songs which have this kind of musical spine are always good, and I want to have the right term to describe them.

It's an 8 note pattern with the orchestra putting emphasis being on beats 1 and 4, it would be really strange for it to be 6/8.

Sounds like a standard 4/4 to me,

It is 4/4.

I can understand why you would say 6/8 but it is 4/4 because of what the rest of the instruments are doing.

not
1234 - 1234

Since there is no emphasis on beat 7, it probably is 123-12345.

I still say 4/4.

EDIT: The rest of the orchestra leads me to believe it's not 6/8

EDIT2: Yeah what boulder said.

I thought it might be something to do with an 8 because of how fast it was. just a fast 4/4 then
