No seriously, fuck you. This was the 3rd computer that I've seen die from the SAME EXACT PROBLEM. IS IT REALLY SO HARD TO PUT A DECENT POWER SUPPLY AND COOLING SYSTEM IN A COMPUTER AND BETTER YET NOT USE 3RD RATE HARDWARE IN YOUR FUCKING PREMIUM PRICED COMPUTERS?

I went through like four AC adapters  for my HP laptop before I got one that didn't break.

Ive had this laptop for about four years and i haven't had any problems with the power supply. My screen does have a gigantic crack in it that forces me to use a monitor though.

at least you have another excuse to build that fancy new comp you were talking about. :thumbs:

How hot does it get? Enough to fry the hardware inside?

On another note, i bought a Western Digital Mybook Essential.

I had to reformat it since it came in FAt32 instead of NTFS. Then i had to swap out the packaged cable with a shorter one to solve a "delayed write failure."

Goddamnit.

And i am not going to write about the condition of my hardware because i fear as soon as i do this thing will die on me.

Well all three of these computers were bought in the time frame of 2006-07. From what I found on google, all of them had these problems :/

I remember a while back i checked the temp on it, and it was running a little over normal so i cleaned it and it ran fine. This happened 2 months later.

Say my mother and sisters got that HP Media Center in January of 2007, they gave me the currently obolete custom made PC we got in 2004 so they could mess all they wanted with the new flamant bastard. Funny thing is their computer has crashed requiring formatting in an average of twice a year.

Last year my sister needed a laptop as an old VAIO we got messed up bad. After checking a lot of shit like capacity, brand and OS I suggested a Lime Green Dell. I thought it was ideal as it was on sale and all, not to mention the color would look nice for my sis. Unfortunately my mother quickly prefered some black HP instead since she would save like 20 dollars in difference. Now it has broken twice already and we've got it for not even the year.

So yeah, HP can suck a thick one.

My dad works with them. He says everything is wrong there. He manages the supply chain, in a factory. He used to engineer but that job got taken by no less than three college-aged bastards that don't get paid much and work from home most of the time. At the factory there is no communication and most of the time people in other parts of the company are selling things that haven't even been made yet and guesstimating deadlines, or selling things before the capability to make them exists. There are no stockrooms with finished product.

Weird things keep happening like everyone gets a day off arbitrarily with pay and only one week of notice. My dad says they're trying to make the company look good on the books so it can be sold.

Also I think it sucks that your computer sucks, all the HP stuff over at my place is invincible. I don't doubt that the stuff you have sucks though because the factory workers are mostly college dropouts with weird goatees and they apply thermal paste with their fingers after finishing bags of cheetos and stuff.

Most of the HP's I got are from that period of time so I think the problem was more or less isolated to that Media Center line... regardless it sucks now that we have nothing at the house but a budget laptop from 2000.

First off, if you read my previous statement I'm only borrowing the money under the condition that I get the Mac that I'm purchasing. Secondly, I did a price check on the parts for the Mac I am getting (Mac Mini) and after purchasing a motherboard, the DDR3 RAM at 1066mhz, the 2.0 Dual Core (Yeah lol) and then getting it in that form factor, it cost approximately 100 dollars more than the Mini. Then, I factored in the cost for the multimedia and video publishing software equivalents to iMovie, GarageBand and iDVD. Once I was done the PC was more expensive and didn't have anything more than the Mini other than a slightly larger Hard Drive. To be honest if you're wanting a Mac, a Mini is the most reasonably priced system out there. And I've ran one on a 32" television, it's a very enjoyable experience.

Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com, etc, I looked at each of them. I went to a few local stores as well and after rebates and promotions, the computer itself was cheaper, but after adding the software i wanted (which has been bundled with the Mini), it cost a few dollars more than the mini. And i have yet to find a ATX Micro case as small as the Mini's, and the ones that are close are pretty fugly.

HP Pavilion laptops: Don't get them. I've had mine for about half a year and every 1 out of 3 startups just gives me a black screen. I've also had numerous occasions where he would just stop working. Not to mention the stupid touch screen volume bar and once you touch it it'll go berserk till you shut it off

My friend bought a Pavilion laptop a few months back, and he says it can't even run Team Fortress 2. How utterly lame.

If I needed a Windows laptop (which I don't), I'd get an Asus. Those are badass.

I don't know what this laptop can run, but I do know it doesn't take very long for it to overheat! I fixed that problem though. I used two wine corks to tilt it up so the heat can escape. And guess what! It works like a charm

Lol wut. I grabbed a Hp Netbook. Not going to be mine for long, but ykno, its not half bad. 16gb SSD, 1gb RAM (easy to upgrade), atom, etc. Its doing pretty good.
