Title: Let's solve P = NP
Post by: Soup Clock on April 24, 2009, 08:58:40 PM
Anybody game?  We've got some smart computer nerds here, might as well give it a shot (I mean, it's $1,000,000).  Also, NPC problems we could attack would be a good start.

N equals one or zero, P is any constant. Ta-da.

Really though, what is P=NP?

It is the most important unsolved problem in theoretical computer science.

It can only be solved by using bistromathematics.

Even if you were solving that algebraically, it would have to be N = 1 P = constant OR P = 0 N = constant.

Also google

Hey, if we can come up with a one-way function then not only could we have truly secure public-key encryption but we would also prove that NP does not equal P.

Of course, we could do the Godel thing and prove that one way functions cannot exist, but that doesn't necessarily mean that P=NP.

This is the kind of shit that makes me think that math just said "HA HA HA SCREW THE OLD LOGIC LET'S SHOW YOU SOME SILLY THINGS THAT DON'T MAKE SENSE NOW."

P=NP
N=P/P
N=1

Pay up bitches

The answer is simple, yes, P=NP.

what proof? I didn't say the proof was easy!

Aight guys, time for seriousness, enough of the goofing around.  Lets see some proofs!

"NP Complete" would be a good band name.

Algebra, you know, substituting numbers with symbols for manipulation.

Hey, for all I know you are a 12-year-old grade school dropout from Mombasa that stole a laptop from a visiting diplomat. If I just assumed you knew what algebra was, I might have snubbed you.

Lol, why did you divided by N in both sides of the equation?

If you do it to one side of the equation, you must do it to the other. It's pretty basic algebra simplifying.

Too bad algebra works in circles and it doesn't get you anywhere unless you know what two of the values are (In this equation). So it's not solvable by those means.

Or wait, I'm stupid, I just realized that p\n=p would mean that N is 1. Too bad that the number is arbitrary since mathematicians with too much time manage to come up with bullshit equations for illusionary concepts.

remember back when P = NP wasn't an algebraic equation
