I will buy this. Seriously, that was the last pokemon game I truly enjoyed, even if they just put in revamped graphics and one small new area i'd be cool.. though having Kanto, Johto and MAYBE Hoenn would RULE :)

They've been the same since red and blue except with slightly better/different graphics.

Also having two different versions making people buy both of them to get all the pokemon when not actually putting any effort into making better games is a dick move.

If this remake is true, I will burst in joy, G/S/C is the best pokemon game ever, so it's a good thing R/S/E wasn't a full sequel to them like G/S/C was to R/B/Y

I don't think they will because a) they are still producing and selling DS lites b) it would severely limit the amount of people who would be able to play the game and c) it has no prominent features that will take advantage of the DS's capabilities.

Solid Gold and Sterling Silver sound cool.


Also, even though Gold and silver were by far my favorite of the pokemon games, I really disliked all the starters, so much so that I cheated and made my starter another three-stage pokemon (I forget which)

Word, Ken Sugimori is a fucking awesome character designer, he stopped making most of the Pokemon since Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

He was also behind the whole concept of Drill Dozer, not sure about the character designs though.

Back then it took me till level 60 to get it to work, way too much effort. Now that you can just check it on your watch thing, do grooming every day, and feed it those baked poffin things, you can get them maxed out on level 1.

It's a good defensive pokemon. I usually do double battles, so while my one guy is sweeping, Umbreon is using Toxic and Confuse Ray on everything that moves, or pulls out helping hand to assist with OHKOing bulkier enemy pokes. Then I've got Dark Pulse just in case it actually needs to attack.

The main difference with D/P is that special attacks and normal attacks are split. You can have physical psychic moves and special fighting moves etc. It's neat.

i always went with water type as well, but for platinum i went with with turtwig and its pretty cool so far. I had a piplup in pearl but it didn't really do it for me. i didnt pick that lame ass flaming monkey though.

You're right finding Red at the end was one of the most unexpected things for me. It was as if I was playing against my character from red/blue/yellow.
Also the ruins of alph were really mysterious I always thought it had something more to it after getting into the final chamber. Maybe hg/ss will look into it, who knows?

Not really, the best attack it had was solarbeam which takes time to charge and back then you didn't have sunny day or any strong poision attacks.
it was useful against the first and second gymleader though, and sleep powder was neat, so it was a       good starter, but notas strong as the others.


I think torterra is a decent grass starter though.

Torterra was definitely the most kickass final evolution of the D/P starters, no doubt, but it was the first time.

Especially since chimchar was basically a mammalian torchic, there was no difference between them besides that.

The ruins of alph gave me the same feeling. It was magical when I'd open up another section. I think in crystal you could use them to get Suicune but I never bought it.

Chimchar is indeed very terrible. With Torterra I can agree he is way awesome. Razor Leaf, Earthquake, Stone Edge and Crunch and you're all set. Empoleon is pretty awesome too but I didn't let it evolve all the way so I can learn Drill Peck really fast. The potential is certainly there.

It helps that in S/G you can get a ghastly in the first gym town. With levitation ability now, a Ghastly should be able to own the first gym leader.

Luvdisk is the worst pokemon out there. Dunsparce is just adorable and I had him on my main party back on my original Gold Version, he just tries so hard.

I fucking love Trapinch but it does have a fucked up evolution chain. I hacked my game so I had trapinch as my starter only to discover he doesn't evolve into his second form till level 35 (the latest in a three chain evolution I think?) and actually gets WEAKER when he evolves, then his next evolution JUSt brings him back to his original strength. Yeah, fucked up evolution pattern.

Plus this is fucking weird I like looked all this up on trapinch this morning

Pretty much all bug Pokemon are really weak except for Pinsir, Scyther, Forretress, Scizor, Shuckle, Heracross, Ninjask, and Armaldo. Half of those are from G/S so I would say that Generation II was actually the best Gen for bug types as far as ability in battle is concerned.

Ice type would be epic if there was an ice/fire pokemon.

IT would make absolutely no sense, but it would be awesome.



Also, I was tinkering and I made up this starter pokemon tree that I thought would be pretty unique, tell me what ya think.

First off, the 3 will all start out normal, and then gain their types on evolution. The r/p/s matchup would be rock/flying/fighting.

First one is a normal type 2ft tall phage virus with a purple head.
First evolution is a rock type ~4 ft tall prokaryotic cell with a brown cell wall and purple cillia.
Final evolution is a rock/psychic type that looks like a 10 ft eukaryotic cell, which floats and has a glowing purple nucleus.

Second is a normal type ~2ft tall vulture chick which is still white with down.
First evolution is a pure flying type ~4ft tall vulture with a pink head and black/grey plumage.
Final evolution is a flying/dark ~6ft condor with a grey head and black plumage with like a 20 ft wingspan.
defense/special advantage

Final one is a normal type 2ft long white lizard that'd look like an anole.
first evolution is a fighting type ~4 ftbipedal lizard with longer legs than arms like a raptor.
Final is a fighting/water type that would look like a large ~7ft tall basilisk lizard(they're the ones that run on water, thus the water type)
