Title: The Eyes Thread
Post by: SnakeClock on May 25, 2009, 08:34:33 PM
I enjoyed this old thread (http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/showthread.php?t=50501) and thought of bumping it, but a lot of the old pictures are broken, and since BoxyBrown isn't around much anymore, it seems like a good idea to just start a new one. So that's what I did. It would be interesting to see some of the newer members of the Clock Crew participate.

Here are the eyes of the Clock Crew:

If you'd like to be added, take a picture of your face, and crop around the eyes. You can make the area around it in Photoshop or GIMP by colouring over it in black in a separate layer and choosing the "Color" option on the layer. Please don't colour over the actual pupils; just colour over everything else.

PirateClock has also offered up a faster method for those that have Photoshop CS3 or CS4: you can make a new Adjustment layer called "Black & White" that will make the image under it black and white, and you can erase out the part of that layer that's over the pupils to make them in colour. You can find this option here:

mmm.. how green? Like borderline teal? Cause that's close enough.

Having blue eyes comes with a massive handicap though... sneezing when directly looking in the sun.

What's wrong with Thunderbolt? It's not taken or anything, and it sounds awesome. And that Sea Kitten thing was pretty I'm a edgy teen.

Quote from: PirateClock;1592140Btw, cs3/4 has an option called "black&white" which is much better than desaturated or coloring. Just duplicate your layer, black&white the top one, erase pupils so the bottom picture appears. Done.

How is that different from desaturating?

Black&White allows you to adjust the levels and keeps the contrast intact. Where as desaturate just removes color and often leaves a much blander picture.

Atleast that's what my photoshop teacher said! I dunno just try it, it looks prettier when you mess around with Black&white instead of Desaturate.

It just seems to me that if you wanted a more particular color extraction, gradient mapping or contrast adjusting would have the same effect.

I would just shut up and try it, but I'm still using cs1.

Well look,  the middle frame is desaturated and the right one is black and white:

Im sure this is easily done with whatever it is you just said, but this is just another build in tool to makes things easier for lazy guys like me.

That happens to me and my eyes are hazel/caleidoscopic, so I really don't know what you're going on about.

EDIT: Well I suppose they do look blue under the right lighting conditions.

Well like 30% of the total population has it, it's called Photic sneeze reflex

I was pretty sure it's called 'staring at the sun and then your eyes want to close cause its bright and they dry a little, causing them to water which then goes into your tear ducts and tickles inside your nose and make you sneeze so you close your eyes reflex'. I thought everyone had it.

That's actually not the reason, it has something to do with over sensitivy of your nerves. Bright light can cause sneezing but so can other things according to wikipedia:
"In addition this sneeze reflex can be brought on by a sudden inhaling of cold air or a strong flavor such as a strong mint gum. This implies an overstimulation of any nerve close to the trigeminal nerve can cause the sneeze reflex."

I dunno if this has anything to do with it, but i sometimes get watery eyes when i drink fizzy drinks.

I think the fizzy drinks is just the gas rising up into your nostrils from the back of your throat, since your mouth is closed, and the gasses doing that nerve thing inside your tear duct thangs.
