But this time I'm actually building a decent character. She is a light sorc who can now solo hell mephisto and sometimes andy, depending on what creeps spawn at her. I have done a little MFing and so far have found an Occy and a perfect Tal orb. I just traded for the rest of the pieces of the Tal set, but I don't know if it will be more powerful than my current items. These are my stats right now

Lightning max dmg 15000

I also just traded i hr for tal armor AND tal ammy together, I am going to test tal set now. If it sucks, I'll sell the whole set for 3 HR.

My merc is an act2 defensive with armor aura, equipped with average uniques. Sometimes he dies from bosses :(

I plan on getting spirit monarch, and throwing that lidless on swap. After than I will have good enough FCR to get rid of vipermagi (hopefully) and get some COT which will finally get me resists around 30-40 each.


When I rebuild this character (I had to spend points in Energy when I was poor) I would appreciate help muling it. I am USeast NL.

EDIT: YES Tals make it so much easier to do mf runs... even though my damage is down by almost half, and I lost a FCR breakpoint.

Tal's set sucks dude (at least compared to what you can get from individual items). Hammerdin's are also the best MF character. Or maybe Barbarians dual wielding ali babas on switch but who does that.

Dwarf I need to make my first MF character still before I can expand into other classes. I know that hammerdins are the end-all most powerful PvE (and up there in PvP too), but I don't have gear for them. Also I disagree about Tals, I have done like 3 runs with it now, and I am not dieing. Before I was really lacking resists, and Tals is fulfilling that requirement. I do plan on eventually gearing her with 2 more runewords, then she will be almost maxed out.

Also @ sombra, it is an action RPG, but an RPG none the less

Well it all depends on the character you are using. If you are focusing on physical damage or summoning nightmare act 2 offensive are a great choice with their physical increasing aura. If casting nightmare act 2 defensive are considered the best by most, because of their freeze aura

D2 just isnt playable for me anymore.. I played it for a full year straight and everytime I try and come back to it I just get bored of it in less then 30 mins. Its just so dated... Plus between the spam bots, and the annoying 13 year olds who cry if you get a drop before they do... Its just intolerable.

I only tried Malkav and I couldn't use him. So I made a new Malkav :(

400 does provide more set and unique drops, its just there diminishing returns become much greater at that point.

Does anybody know what keys trade for? I had to run summoner at least like 30 times before I got a key to drop, huge fucking pain in the ass even with a sorceress. I really don't think I can handle Nihlathak yet either so I'm not even going to try running him for the final key. So my plan is to get someone to trade me his key for something else.

If you make some type of caster on USeast non ladder I have plenty decent equipment for you, Like a Skull Collector, Magefists, Forstburns, Rare sorc orbs, tal rasha parts, wizspike...

I'd suggest a Meteorb sorc. I have been thinking of making one because I really HATE only having one element at my disposal.

Yeah lightning skills take too many points to level up well. To make a bi-elemental you need to use either Frozen Orb or Firewall as one of your attacks. It kind of sucks how synergies make you do this with your skills. Before synergies you could have a sorc that would own with any combination of spells.

Another good starting character is the Skellemancer, they are really fun and can solo the whole game by themselves. The skills for a skelemancer are:

20 raise skeleton
20 skeleton mastery
20 corpse explosion (this spell owns everything)
like 4 in revives
1 in your golems and other summon prerequisties
1-5 in amplify damage (very important, cast it on enemies and your skeletons do x2 damage)
1 in decrepify for bosses and any other curses you like

After that you can do what you want with your skills, I suggest you put one in bone armor and the rest in bone wall because it adds damage absorption to bone armor more than adding points to bone armor itself actually does, pluse bone wall is a great crowd control skill. Not that you will really need bone armor or walls when you have 14 skeletons a golem and a merc running around killing everything in your path.

I actually suggest you make a skellymancer, because then you can just take a 6 open socket armor you find, and fill it up with flawless topazes, and find a 3 open socket helm and do the same. That right there will give you like 200% MF, which is great for starters. To get gems, go into cow games and look for them, or even just play thorough the game and cube up gems you find.



Other builds you can make are a lightning fury amazon with a backup cold arrow skill. You could also make a trapsin, they are really fun. You just lay down your traps and they do the shooting for you. Assassins also have some good crowd control skills, and they have a sentry with corpse explosion srsly copse explosion annihilates everything, all you need is 1 body to start the carnage.

OH and more protips:

Save all  of the gems, jewels, and runes you find. You can cube up your runes and gems. You can trade about 12 perfect amethysts/perfect rubies if you are lucky/ral runes/ort runes for a high rune, like 40 jewles for a hr, or 40 (non amethyst) gems for a high rune. When you save up enough ask around in the chat "Who needs ral runes/pamythyst/40 gems for a hr?" This is how I build up most of my wealth, not from trading items but gems.

When you get your first HR I suggest you trade it for a Harlequin Crest, because they are so fucking OP. Take your crest and use your socket quest on it, and in the socket put a perfect topaz. Next, I suggest you try to find a low Call to Arms runeword in a flail. If you are lucky you will find one with minimal stats that someone will trade to you for 1 high rune. Thats what I did for mine, and I haven't regretted it since. You may have to recast it every 60 seconds, but the skills this runeword gives you ass +1 to all of your skills, and like 40% to your health and mana, and your mercs health too! and incredible item. Just put it on your weapon switch and use that to scast it when you need to.

Also while you are on ladder, try to make a Spirit runeword in a Monarch sheild. The runes are easy to get, its the sheild that is difficult. You can also make this runeword in a weapon(not sure what type) and use it in conjunction with the sheild to get some amazing benefits. together they would give:

+4 to all skills
110%(!!!) Faster Hit recovery
+50-70 FCR
+40something to vitality
+200 mana
16 magic absorb
Some resists

Sorry but I fucking hate summon necros. They just irritate the shit out of me. It's cool to have a bunch of shit running around killing stuff for you and coupled with amplify damage they will fuck stuff up but they fill up the screen and lag out the game and they will piss off a lot of people in Baal runs and such.

I'm working on a poison necro right now though, as soon as I get that lower resist curse I should be golden.

No it's not. My wolfhowl barbarian can solo hell no problem, I even killed uber Diablo with him (that's how I got my annihilus) without any help, with other people in the game. Everyone was trying to find uber Diablo not knowing I had already found him and was kicking his ass :D

My zealot/smiter can also solo hell without any trouble.

All characters can solo hell if you just build them right.

it is so much better than vanilla. It is actually challenging, not like in vanilla where you can either own then, or it takes for ever to kill shit and is really annoying, or you die instantly.
