I've heard like three songs by them but "through the hosiery" is a fucking tune. Its starting to become a bit of an anthem around some of the nightclubs here. Ecstasy probably has a lot to do with it. Either way fuck you.

Ok well the thievery thing is utter crap because it was on 2 tracks that got leaked that they never planned to release. So shut up please.

But in reality, not a fan.

Sounds like a band that could be good, but what I just listened to is not.

I had not heard of them before. Excuse my ignorance of irrelevant crap, but I don't listen to radio, or wherever these kids are popular from. I remember being laughed at by black people a few years ago for not know who T.I. is... who would I if I don't listen to rap radio stations? Or radio at all? Or MTV etc. It's funny, the music that's so popular, passes me by, meanwhile I get fixated on the shit that has like 20 friends on myspace.

That's pretty much me, except that instead of getting fixated on the obscure shit I get fixated on the shit that was popular ten years ago. Actually, fifteen years in some cases. Holy shit, does it ever just hit you, how late the year is? The future is right here, right now, man.

What depresses the fuck out of me is that in 20 or 30 years, people are probably going to be listening to shitty indie and mall punk and emo the way middle-aged people listen to classic rock now. This is the kind of shit that bugs me when I bother to think about the future and is one of the reasons that I try not to.

EDIT: Also, I just looked them up on Youtube, and this is pretty much the kind of shit that only a hipster could love. It's crappy enough to cross the mainstream shit line twice and make it back into obscurity, but it's "edgy" and "different" enough that it's always going to have a dedicated following of people who like to hold circlejerks over their obscure taste in music.
Honestly, the lyrics could be genius for all I know, but I can't hear a fucking word with all the vocoder filters they put on. And I mostly listen to music for the lyrics. And it doesn't even have the excuse of sounding nice. Or the excuse of being out to offend people, like Anal Cunt. I think I've pretty much summed it up, folks. Crystal Castles does not have an excuse. And this is coming from someone teetering enough on the edge of hipster-ness to hang out with hipsters and listen to Metric. This band makes me feel completely confident in my skills as a musician, because now I know that whatever I do, at least it will be better than Crystal Castles.

make that 40 or so years for me

and yeah, judging of what I listened on Youtube: I dunno if they really steal songs, but these melodies are just generic techno grooves, and almost nothing to compensate it (no, speaking in encoded gibberish does not count)

I know what you mean. Sometimes I get freaked out at how long some music has been out, and how i'm still just as obsessed with it as ever. NOTHING sounded better than MSI's Tight in about 1999, and I still love that album. With my penis.

People for some reason get stuck in the nostalgia of what they listened to when they were young. Those kind of people are prime candidates for senile dementia.

What's funny is that I actually pretty much hated all forms of rock n roll when I was a kid, and just got into grunge etc. a year or two ago. It really changed my life.

I hated rap music and everything about it when I was a kid. Now it's like all I listen to.

Well truthfully, I hated the way that rap lyrics made the kids around me speak and act, and I hated the blurbs of it I heard in traffic (what's with people who slow the shit down? are they stupid and trying to learn the words?). But I honestly liked Coolio, Tupac, some Dre and Snoop, Wu Tang, and most of the rap I heard as a kid, I just didn't give it much of a chance.

First rap cd I ever bought was Paullelujah. Fuck that cd still owns my cock

Alright, I'm listening to this whole album right now. Should be good, my favorite genre happens to  be electronica.

Keep in mind, I have never heard of or heard these guys before
time to listen

Untrust Us- Not really a bad song, just a little predictable in a way, and just not all that for me. If I was in 9th grade and heard this song I would be fucking bumping to this shit, but I have heard so so so much better than this now, so when i hear this it just sounds childish.

Alice Practice- 8-bit noises, a girl screaming. trying to get into it. its really not bad, nothing to complain about besides its utter uninteresting approach. Pretty fucking boring. I don't think I can bump to this for a whole 3 minutes. Yes, yes BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP I hear you. I know exactly when to move my head. Some of the 8-bit chops are rad, though.

Crimewave- Lol. Ya, this sounds like techno for preschoolers. I mean, I won't lie, I can dance to this, but when I shut my eyes and just listen to the music, it hardly tickles. Good drunk music, I suppose, considering I am. It really hardly mixes up the verse the second time around. I dislike this song, pretty much. Hipstery and boring.

Magic Spells- Starts out not bad. Once again, boring and been done, but not utterly terrible. Good god, this is so mediocre. Its like this music is giving me blueballs. I hear the makings of a good song, but they just don't pull it off. It sounds kinda cool, but its just shallow. I won't keep listening to this song after tonight.

XXZCUZX Me- I don't why this song just cracks me up. The truth is, all the hipstery kids I know are total assholes. They all wear green or purple jackets or stripped shit. Tight pants, piercings, wild hair in some way. I honestly do not get the point of the style or the culture, if there even is one. The other thing is, they are mostly dicks. Like, really big assholes, always trying to push their own ego. They always fucking talk about hating Jocks and how much of dicks they are, mocking their choice of life style, but the truth is, its the same damn life style, just different clothing style.
Anyway, the image of one of those hipster kids bumping to this song just screams the word NEWB, IMHO.

Air War- Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I put a Fergy song on my mix, I'll skip this. Pretty FUCKING shallow song. Oh listen to that, its a Donkey Kong sound effect in the back ground, how FUCKING cute. This sounds like a Britney Speaks song with video game chirps. Big deal. The beats are unimpressive. BORING :( Maaan.

Courtship Date- Wow, this sounds pretty much like every other song on this record. Ya, I'm not to big on this. In fact, I would go so far as to say this is the most annoying song so far :/ Biggest blue balls, and has an annoying singer and hook. I fucking hate that style of singing man. Hipstery girl and boy singing voices are both FUCKING annoying. I can't take them, its like every goddamn singer sounds the same, I can't take it any more. I swear....this shit is boring.

Good Time- Hahaha. Aaah, not very good. I'm sure they were very proud they made this, though. Boring, boring, so far. I'm really gonna give it a chance, though, lets do it, lets hear something great...Hey, there was a few little parts that I actually enjoyed, so yay.

1991- Lol. This doesn't sound familiar!!!  Also, this is boring, once again, and what else is boring is saying boring so much. Didn't do much for me.

Vanished- Meh....zzzz.

Knights- This ones not all that bad. Still falls under the same problems as the others, sounding far too simple, and playing it off in a way that is not well done. Sounds like they rip off current POP, simplify it and throw in video game noises. Though, Knights has some moments of total tolerability. I applaud.

Love and Caring- Barf. Ya, this doesn't appeal to me at all. In fact, I know this is so pretentious, but it sounds stupid to me, I can't help it.

Through The Hosiery- A lot of these songs sound a lot a like, but this one is kinda different. It seems like they cared a little bit more in the structure of this song than they did others. I still can't say I would listen to this again, though. Just not my thing. I honestly hate hearing all those 8-bit noises with what sounds like a "hard" Amy Whinehouse song. Its like the outside world is just now discovering that game noises sound cool and they its a little fad.

Reckless- Doesn't stand apart from the other songs at all. I hate it. There, I said it.

Black Panther- Is that a reference to the Atari Jaguar? A happy hard core song, basically. I can't take it.

Tells me what to swallow- Hahahaa, of course the last track is a slow guitar track, GOD DAMN HOW FUCKING PREDICTABLE CAN YOU GET YOU FUCKING HIPSTERJADFA.

I'm gonna listen to some nice music and wash that off.

Oval, Venetian Snares, Autechre, B-12, Basic Channel, Robert Hood, Terry Riley, Sutekh, Surgeon, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Two Lone Swordsmen, Musik. Those are probably my favorite Electronica artists.

Endtroducing ya

Alice Practise verges on good. I read that it was just her testing a mic or something and it got leaked by mistake and ended up being their most popular song.
This is a metaphor for the band. With their synth sounds and her voice they don't actually realise how good they could be and write songs in completely the wrong direction. Anything good I've heard out of them appears to be accidental.
