The image I used as a reference is (https://clockcrew.net/talk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmashedmusings.files.wordpress.com%2F2009%2F03%2Fgalaxy_ngc_pic23941.jpg&hash=c0350e705d83acf209f357b831f2f1147bc75bef)
I'm not really used to experimenting with pallets in paint, any suggestions so i can have more colours in my images? Or should I use another program which would allow a larger variety of colours?
EDIT: Imageshack just butchered the image quality, fuck
EDITEDIT: Seems the image quality was butchered another way. Oh well.
Too much darkness.
no, seriously. Look at the photo. There's at least a tinge of visible red everywhere. Yours just has the light drop off at a certain point, like it hit a wall or something.
I would just draw it, not use the spray can tool. You can convey the impression of particulates without actually drawing thousands of tiny dots.
Anyone else see a big ol' cock and balls in that?

Yeah, I guess I was lazy or something, but I'll keep that in mind.

I'm inexperienced with things like this, would you be able to suggest how I could do that?

Draw larger blocks of color more scribbly, so that the outline isn't smooth. Look at the image from a distance to get a rougher idea of the form. You want to draw the
overall form of it, not every tiny fluid piece.
